C-54 N44911. This is the aircraft where the author flew in from Fairbanks to Kobuk and Chungnak, high above the Arctic circle. This aircraft made its last flight recently after a engine problems in Alaska.
In the summer of 1999 I made a trip through Alaska, the final frontier. This video starts with a trip in the cockpit of a C-54. You can join me on board a flight from Kobuk to Fairbanks, Alaska's second big city. At Fairbanks you see several famous propliners like the C-46, DC-6 and DC-4. Also a visit to Fort Wainwright, where you see big props like the C-97 and PBY-4. Also a rare turbo Dakota and other aircraft in use by the US Forest service to drop smokejumpers over forest fires. Finally down to Anchorage and Palmer, where you see more propliners still in use by various cargo operators.

Technical notes
All our DVDs are PAL system. However, if you're not watching your DVDs on a computer, you still need to ensure they are compatible with your national TV system. Many US DVD players are multi-region, not multi-system, and you will need to buy NTSC DVD-Rs. Some early DVD players won't play DVD-Rs. If in doubt, ask APVW to check if your machine is OK for this format. All our DVDs will play in any computer DVD drive.
