Familiarize yourself with the world's premiere general aviation avionics suite, the Garmin G1000, on a flight in the world's fastest certified piston single, the Columbia 400. The flight provides continuous commentary explaining features of the Columbia 400 and Garmin G1000 during actual flight operations.

The Columbia 400 is an intercooled, twin turbocharged, four-place aircraft certified for flight up to 25,000 feet. This 310 HP all-composite aircraft enjoys cruise speeds of 235 knots and an unrefueled range of 1,300 miles. Aside from exceptional performance, Columbia aircraft are well known for their luxury interiors, stunning ramp appeal, safety and durability.

Garmin's G1000 is an all-glass avionics suite that can present traditional cockpit information in a single highly integrated system. This includes all primary flight, navigation, autopilot, terrain avoidance, communication, engine, and aircraft sensor data, all on dual 10-inch displays.

Join us at the Columbia Aircraft Manufacturing facility in Bend, Oregon where we begin with information about the Columbia 400 aircraft. You are then presented with a briefing on G1000 features, including basic operation of the primary and secondary displays and the data entry module.

The flight takes us from the high desert of Central Oregon over the Cascade Mountain Range to Portland International Airport where we make the approach in weather at near instrument flight minimums.
On the return flight we shoot the complete approach into the Sunriver Resort before completing the last leg back to the factory in Bend . (Filmed in MultiCam HD)
