The general aviation instruments panel is aimed at flight simulator and cockpit builders wishing to build professional instrument panels based on LCD displays (and optional panel bezels). This is not a gauge-based panel to be used within the available commercial flight simulator software (ex. Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane, etc). Instead is is designed as a standalone application capable of connecting to the the simulator software.
The initial version comes with connection capabilities to X-Plane. A plug-in is available for X-Plane (win32). The plug-in can be configured to allow connections to up to 5 instances of the instrument panel. Every instance can be connect to the plug-in from different IP address and port.
The panel has been designed with a basic set of instruments which should be sufficient for most general aviation cockpit panels. The initial version contains a set of 20 instruments. Every instrument is constructed and drawn from a high resolution graphics. OpenGL is used as a rendering engine to ensure smooth instrument updates.
Every instrument can be configured independently. Using the configuration dialog the visibility, the position and the scale of every instrument can be adjusted independently.
The complete instrument panel can be shown in a windowed mode or in a full screen. The fololowing is a list of shortcuts available in the main window:
Ctrl + C - Opens the configuration dialog
Ctrl + H - Open the help window
Ctrl + M - Opens the context menu
Ctrl + S - Toggles the visibility of the interraction areas (mouse hotspots)
Ctrl + F - Toggles between the full screen and windowed mode
