As I live in this modern metropolis in the desert, I have to say that this scenery is absolutely stunning. It is so close to what is really here and what will soon be here that you could easily get lost in the virtual world of "Fly Dubai". I have to admit on eor two faults with the scenery, but these have nothing to do with the Airport and only relate to the city. The main point has to be the Sheikh Zayed Road(the road with all the tower parallel to the coast). It is way too close to the coast than in real life. In real life your have about one mile to one and half from beach to Sheikh Zayed Road. But hay, I can't fly th helo's so I am never really flying around at low level through Dubai. Other than this, I have no complaints about the first scenery add-on that I have ever purchased. What a way to start!!! |

I've been a fan of Martin Brunken's sceneries ever since the release of FlyTampa, and have purchased every subsequent piece of work he's done. With each new airport he develops comes a brand new innovation in scenery design, and this is certainly no exception. With FlyTampa, we not only had a completely G-MAX airport, but also had fancy people-mover animations and convincing apron/runway textures; with FlyMiami and FlySanDiego (again both built using G-MAX, as are all Martin's projects), we saw the introduction of 3D taxiway edge lights and numerous static objects, as well as the by now familiar airside and landside ground textures; with FlyDubai, we now even have airport vehicles WITH WORKING HEADLIGHTS (!) and a nice rendition of the city itself, including the famous Jumeirah Beach resort. I don't really know where to start with this masterpiece, but before I do, let me tell you that I am familiar with Dubai airport, as I have passed through it many times in the past (and the not-so-distant past!). The first thing I noticed is the incredible tarmac textures, both on the aprons and on the taxiways/runways. These textures have obviously been custom-made for this scenery, as they are different from those used in previous products, and really do need to be seen to be believed. The fantastic textures extend beyond the perimeter fence, as usual, and cover much of the airside area of the field, blending seamlessly into the default scenery. Next comes the terminal itself - a huge modern affair made from rather a lot of steel and glass - which is represented perfectly here, right down to the departure boards and waiting passengers inside. As usual, Martin has included an AFCAD2 file (which, incidently, is slightly inaccurate on the cargo stands - not really an issue, though), and because the airport is built entirely in G-MAX, the framerates are kept to a maximum. In fact, with my Ultimate Traffic at 100%, framerates are so good that I'd say this product runs better than any of the previous three. I could go on for ages (haven't I already?) praising FlyDubai, but I'm sure I've given any potential buyer enough background information to warrant a purchase - I guarantee you, you won't regret it! Even if you've never been to Dubai, this product is still an essential add-on, if only for the revolutionary design. Definately a 5 for this one! |
