REQUIREMENTS FS2004

The FlightAlpes Sud scenery covers the Southern part of the French Alps (about 16000 km sqr.) with photorealistic textures. Each of the default airports on the scenery has been reworked to closely fit the phototexture with precisely aligned taxiways, buildings, and objects, greatly enhancing these from the standard Flight Simulator 2004 fare. Therefore, the virtual pilot can experience both VFR and IFR flights within a very large zone (about 16000 km2) with a degree of realism never attained before in this region.

Our goal during the development of this new concept of scenery add-ons was to recreate a realistic flying experience from the eyes of a pilot.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • French Southern Alps photoscenery coverage.
  • Textures made from aerial photography (NOT satellite imagery), reworked for an optimal rendition in Flight Simulator.
  • Ground textures are summer only.
  • Custom mesh for the whole region.
  • Custom autogen over the whole scenery.
  • Most lakes faithfully represented and optimized with coast flattening (no water “climbing”). These bodies of water are landable.
  • 10 airfields/airports. These airports have been optimized to fit the photoscenery perfectly : precise taxiway and apron positioning, replaced buildings and hangars, windsocks, towers, etc.
  • All the airports’ surroundings have been reworked to remove the ‘cliff’ effect caused by the presence of a precise mesh under the ‘flat’ Flight Simulator runways.
  • Extremely precise geo-referenced texture positioning, ensuring a maximal compatibility with scenery add-ons for this region.
  • Development process fully compliant with the Microsoft SDK, ensuring a maximal compatibility with future versions of Flight Simulator.
  • Open scenery concept, allowing easy integration of scenery add-ons from other editors.
  • Comprehensive maps and flight documentation for all the included airports in PDF format (except LFXI): (VAC VFR approaches and airport diagrams.)

Minimum configuration required:

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 - Pentium or Athlon 2Ghz - 1 GB Ram
  • Windows 98, Me, 2000, XP, Vista or Seven - 500 MB of free disk space.
  • Please make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your graphic card. These can usually be obtained on the manufacturer’s web site

External Reviews
AVSIM Online - Flight Simulation's Number 1 Site! According to the documentation, BasePack Nord provides 19m terrain mesh and photographic ground textures for approximately 18,000 square kilometers. The map here shows the coverage area. At the top you’ll notice there’s a little cut-out: that’s Geneva. It’s not included because BasePack Nord is a French scenery product, and Geneva is not part of France. The scenery’s eastern boundary is also irregular, and follows the French border with Switzerland in the north and Italy in the south.
