The FlightParis Scenery covers the integrality of the Île-de-France region with high quality photorealistic textures, completed by an entire Autogen coverage of about 12 500 km² made of trees, builidings, warehouses and houses meticulously positionned on the photorealistic basis.
Each of the 29 default airports on the scenery has been reworked to closely fit the phototexture with precisely aligned taxiways, buildings, and objects, greatly enhancing these from the standard Flight Simulator 2004 fare. Therefore, the virtual pilot can experience both VFR and IFR flights within a very large.
Our goal during the development of this new concept of scenery add-ons was to recreate a realistic flying experience from the pilot’s eye point of view.
The “Flight” series has a modular approach with an optimized photoscenery base on which additional sceneries featuring highly detailed airports and scenery elements will be integrated.
The first scenery in the Flight Series is ‘FlightParis’, (containing BasePack and Autogen)is an optimized package where all the default scenery elements have been reworked and custom autogen is integrated. The following FlightParis scenery are providing further elements to the realism of the region with high-resolution photorealistic airports, full custom autogen of the Paris inner city (FlightParis CityPack) and all VFR landmarks, such as custom power lines, water towers, factories, churches, parks etc within the FlightParis VFRPack scenery. All three scenery are available within the ‘FlightParis FULLPACK” that provides you the most important coverage and density ever attained within the Greater Parisian area (Île de France).
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- 12500 km2 of photosreal coverage (all 8 Parisian departments)
- Specific autogen textures coverage for 12500 km² for the exact same zone (trees, houses, builidings...)
- Textures made from high quality aerial photography (NOT satellite imagery), reworked for an optimal rendition in Flight Simulator.
- Ground textures are summer only.
- Night textures provided for each specific autogen texture.
- Custom mesh for the whole region (38m)
- Rivers, lakes and streams are faithfully represented and optimized with coast flattening (no water “climbing”). Landable bodies of water.
- 25 airfields/airports, 3 Ultralight fields and a private strip. These airports have been optimized to fit the photoscenery perfectly : precise taxiway and apron positioning, replaced buildings and hangars, windsocks, towers, etc.
- All the airports’ surroundings have been reworked to remove the ‘cliff’ effect caused by the presence of a precise mesh under the ‘flat’ Flight Simulator runways. The Paris airports are now free of these unsightly cliffs.
- All default 3D elements have been faithfully repositioned (monuments, buildings, antennas, etc.) to make them fit the photoscenery.
- Extremely precise geo-referenced texture positioning, ensuring a maximal compatibility with scenery add-ons for this region.
- Development process fully compliant with the Microsoft SDK, ensuring a maximal compatibility with future versions of Flight Simulator.
- Principle of Open Scenery concept, allowing easy integration of add-on scenery from other editors.
- Optimization of default scenery components for the region, allowing a better framerate throughout the zone.
- Comprehensive maps and flight documentation for all included airports in PDF format : (Enroute, SID/STAR, IFR plates, VFR approaches and airport diagrams.)
Minimum configuration required:
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 - Pentium or Athlon 2Ghz - 512 MB Ram
- Windows 98, Me, 2000 or XP - 600 MB of free disk space.
- Please make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your graphic card. These can usually be obtained on the manufacturer’s web site.

I became aware of the FranceVFR powerhouse via their Paris CityPack title, but then I found these fellows have been quite busy replicating, at photo-real quality, the whole of France! Luckily for me, the CityPack does not work without the installation of another of their add-ons, the FlightParis BasePack. Thanks to this particularity, I began to appreciate the wide scope this company has blueprinted for their line of products. |

Before we get into things – I want to make it very clear that all of these products are purchased and distributed separately. The reason we’re reviewing 6 different scenery products here is to give you a sensation of all the different areas covered, and that the French VFR developers have given us such an awesome variety of products to review. |

Attention Simmers!!! This add-on by Flight Paris is Fantastic. I have never seen so much attention to detail incorporated into Flight Simulator. Surprisingly i have noticed that the Frame Rates are brilliant on this scenery and for €25.00 its definatley worth its price plus more. Although the only one problem that bugged me was nothing to do with the scenery but the download size is a Heafty 350mb and it takes quite a while to download on Dial-Up. However its a Five Star Rating for me. |

The modular concept is interesting, if potentially expensive! On its own this base pack works well, blending with the airports etc. The usual complaints about sharpness are not the fault of the product, but the way/speed FS loads textures - try any similar product and you'll get the same. The only answer is to fly slow and straight I'm afraid! However, add the Autogen pack now available and this scenery really comes into its own, with the level of building detail compensating for any lack of sharpness on the ground. As good as any photographic textures I've seen and easily enhanced, albeit at further expense. |

Well, the textures are really well done. Frame rates are also pretty good. But whether you are actually going to see the textures in all their glory remains to be seen. They take a long time to load to their full sharpness - at least on my P4 3.2 HT with 2 GB RAM and an ATI 9700 Pro 128 MB AGPx8. You will need to disable extended terrain textures, cut down on AI, fly slow and tweak your fs9.cfg. And you will most likely need a 3GHz plus P4 system with a minimum of 128 MB video card. I am not saying this is a bad product - quite the opposite. But this is pushing the envelope to the extreme. Be prepared for a lot of tweaking. |

oops.... I have a middle of the road system. P1.8, 1.25GB Ram, GEForce 6800, 2 x 19' Monitors. This is a good product except for the fact that the load times are crazy and therefore I cannot get the full benefit of it. Great if you have a 3.4ghz , 2gb Ram etc... Good to see the envelope being pushed but it will cost me a new computer to enjoy it. |
