Great British Steam Locomotives is a package containing a selection of the more outstanding locomotives from the era of steam. These range from the mighty express locomotives such as the Duchess class, considered to be the most powerful steam locomotive ever to run in Britain, through the Castle class, handling the famous ‘Cheltenham Flyer‘ which was for some years the fastest train in the World, the Schools class, built to operate over routes with a restricted loading gauge and generally held to be the finest 4-4-0 to be produced, the Black 5 mixed traffic locomotive, of which 842 were built making them by far the most numerous class in Britain, and on to the diminutive Class 1666 Pannier tank, representative of a type that came to be almost symbolic of the locomotives found working in the less
dramatic areas of the yards and docksides.
In addition to the locomotives, a range of rolling stock is presented, with goods wagons of several types, and a selection of passenger coaches in several liveries. Using the facility available in Microsoft Train Simulator for the creation of consists these, together with the appropriate locomotive, may be made up to produce trains echoing the wide variety of traffic to be seen in Britain during this era.
