GOL Transportes Aereos, launched in January 2001 as the first low-fare airline in Brazil, is the fastest growing airline in South America. GOL is also the largest operator of the Next Generation Boeing 737 in Latin America. The airline operates both the 700 and 800 version of the aircraft on routes across Brazil.
After an introduction to the company and a look "behind the scenes" we follow a crew on a 4-day trip across Brazil in the cockpit of the B737-700 including several approaches and landings at the very scenic Santos Dumont Airport located in Rio de Janeiro.
We complete the program with a day on the B737-800 from Sao Paulo to Porto Alegre with stopovers in Florianopolis.

The most videos/dvd's I have are directed for the purpose of showing how the different systems work on a modern airplane. This requires a detailed presentation. Hence those videoes/dvd's are mostly best directed by filming during few flights and do not really give a more general overview of take-offs and approaches/landings.
This video/dvd scips with one exception the detailed explanations , but then instead gives this general overview through 10 (!) take-offs and landings.
The sharpness of the pictures and not to forget the steady camera guidance captures the different values and settings in the glass cockpit of an 737 NG throug-out every phase - ie. before take-off, take-off, approach and landing. In addition; although a NG is rather well automated, the film shows and really gives you the feeling of the speed these planes have during take-off and landing and that in spite of automation each pilot really has hands on with yoke, gears, flaps and so on.
In this respect, this is a really good film. |
