This Version does NOT include a virtual cockpit, it will be released as a free update in the future. |
The maddog 2006 is one of the most sophisticated and complete add-on ever developed for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The accuracy of cockpit and system simulation is very high and there are many features which add realism to the simulation and are not present in standard FS aircrafts.
Key features
- Highly detailed 2D panels, up to 1600x1200, with vector graphics displays (GDI+).
- Realistic flight dynamics, tested by active MD80 pilots.
- Complete CM-1 and CM-2 instrument panels with functionally separated instruments.
- Dual/multiple systems simulation (DFGS, FD, CADC, EFIS, AHRS) with switching.
- Full electrical system simulation including working overhead breakers.
- FMS – Flight Management System.
- DFDR – Digital Flight Data Recorder.
- TCAS – Traffic Collision Avoidance System.
- WAGS – Windshear Alert and Guidance System.
- EGPWS – Enhanced Ground proximity Warning System.
- Weather Radar.
- Full dimmable cockpit lightning and backlighting.
- Brake degradation with wet or frozen runway and with brake overheating.
- Realistic icing on flight.
- Auto/Manual pressurization system.
- More accurate flight model and engine parameters.
- Integrated Load Manager and Route Planner application.
- Control Panel application for ground services, failures and instructor control.
- Multi crew operation between two PCs connected via TCP/IP.
- Possibility to save and reload the panel state (even in flight).
- Customizable panel (main color, FD style, FMA arm modes, etc.).
- Digital sounds set recorded from the real plane: engine, APU, batteries, air conditioning, passenger signs, clicks, cockpit noise, boarding simulation...a true immersive sound experience!
-
Aircraft model
- Realistic control surfaces (the pilot act on the control tabs and the main surface will move for aerodynamic effect, i.e. when IAS >0).
- Working elevator power.
- Realistic rudder movement: powered/manual/restricted.
- Realistic spoiler (each tab is assigned to the correct hyd system and the max angle is controlled by the wow).
- Separate left/right reverse syncronized with the cockpit lights.
- Working autoslat with test.
- Butterfly/nozzle valve animation (related to the panel pressurization system).
- Working apu doors (including manual operation).
- Separate lights (landing, wing, flood, nacelle), separate extension of landing light and double intensity nose light, each light is connected to the correct electrical bus.
- Working cockpit door (related to the cockpit door switch in the overhead).
- Working wipers.
- Doors/stairs: fwd cabin door, aft cabin door, aft stair, fwd stair, fFwd/aft service door, fwd/mid/aft cargo doors.
FMS

- Calculated speed ECON/LRC/ENG OUT.
- 5 different types of user defined waypoints.
- Two indipendent routes.
- Winds aloft forecast entries (FORECASTS page).
- Sid/star and navdata custom database updated montly.

For me it has been the best aircraft purchase to date. I have not flown another aircraft since it's release and with the soon to be released SP1 it will only get better. |

Among the several unrealistic and 'lite' commercial airliner packages, luckily once in while comes a complete, realistic, educational, accurate, high quality simulation of an airliner. This offering is the best MD-82 available on the net and it is a recommended purchase for the serious simmer who doesn't hit CTRL-E to start the engines. I applaud LSH who have created this for us and I invite more talented developers to provide such sophisticated simulations to the community instead of focusing on 'lite' products. I executed a 4 hour flight from KCVG to KLAX with the Allegiant variant last night, and I was most impressed with the flawless behaviour of this simulation. No VC is not a problem with this aircraft, as all it would serves would be to use up frames. Congratulations to LSH and let us see more from them in the future. Maybe a Tristar. |

If I ever receive a registration code perhaps I will overcome my extreme frustration and learn to love the product. I purchased this product and submitted the required registration information on August 12 and it is now August 16. I have sent email requests to the support address every day and have not even received a single response. A friendly note on the web site informs us that they are on vacation for the month of August, but will monitor the site for registration problems. Right. :-( |
