In a word, this is an excellent addon. And I'm saying that after years of flying most of the well known top commercial aircraft, including PMDG 747-400/MD-11, Level-D 767-300ER and DA Fokker 70/100. I see The Maddog as equal if not superior to them. That is a very complex simulation of an aging classic (but so beautiful) airplane. Even for an experienced simmer the bird is not easy to master in the beginning. It takes time to learn how to power it up and how not to overheat and lose one engine after takeoff (happened to me twice!). If you learn how to fly it properly though, it will give you tones of satisfaction. Panels are graphically very pleasant (you can choose between the pink and the blue versions). The frame rates are on a very reasonable level. Sounds are excellent, especially all those tiny jingles, rattles and clicks in the cockpit, recorded from a real MD-82. Needless to say there is an interactive flight attendant voice and boarding music too. I'm not a real world MD-8X captain, but from my experience I can say this bird flies very fine and the feeling is as realistic as it can be in the MFS. The product comes with a very useful Manager, where you can not only set up all details of your maddog, but also prepare and save your flightplan (using the updatable PMDG navigation database) as well as calculate and preload necessary fuel. You can also assign various functions to key strokes, which is essential if you (like me) use external control devices (throttles, autopilots, radios, etc). This is exactly what I like: a professionally made jetliner you can learn for a long time (endlessly?) and feel deep satisfaction every time you finish your flight at the gate. I fly with: FS9.1 IntelCore 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHZ 2GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT |
