REQUIREMENTS CFS2 FS2004

Douglas Aircraft's El Segundo plant was awarded the prototype contract for a new tactical attack jet for the U.S. Navy and the Marine Corps in 1952 after chief engineer Ed Heinemann had conviced the Bureau of Aeronautics his design would meet the challenging specification and yet weight just half the suggested 30,000 lb (13,607 kg). The prototype flew in June 1954 and not only fully met the requirements but set a world speed record and proved such a good basis for improvement that the A-4 remained in production for 26 years.
The requirements were based on Korean experience and called for the maximum payload/range and equipment for carrier operation, but not for all weather avionics.the A-4 bristled with novel features intended to reduce weight and complexity. The main gears, ,tall enough for large underwing clearance, fold forward to lie under the main wing box without cutting into it.
The wing is a curved-tip delta so small it does not need to fold, the entire box being an integral tank and the leading edges having full span slats. The cockpit was put high above the nose for good view, and in the final versions the canopy was enlarged. There are large airbrakes on the rear fuselage, flight controls are powered, ,and the unique rudder hastily redesigned to eliminate ?Buzz? by having a single skin on the centerline with ribs on the outside remained in production to the 2,960th and last aircraft in 1980.

What I've said about Volume 2 goes also for this volume... I'll just repeat what I've said before here. Being a big Skyhawk fan I found that this series was a must. It's evident that the author's have put much time into detailing all of the small differences between the models. The Virtual Cockpit is what impresses me the most.. it gives a very tight feeling to the Skyhawk cockpit, you really feel like you are strapping into a fighter. The flight dynamics have improved greatly and the controls are crisp and light. Most of the models allow you to vary the ordanance carried which is a nice touch. The visual models are excellent and very easy going on frame rates. The paint schemes are crisp and cover a HUGE selection of aircraft in service. The author's have released very nice layered paint kits so it is easy to tweak the current schemes or create paint schemes all you're own. The sound uses the default 737 but with all of the excellent freeware sound packs available this is something that can be changed easily to suite youre individual taste. Overall a very nice aircraft, I'm very happy with it and own volumes 2,3 and 4. I'd reccommend this to anyone who loves the A-4 or is just looking for a fun, simple fighter plane to add to Flight Simulator.

Ron, you have done it again...BIGTIME.
There are vast improvements on this version that tops the other 2.
1. The fusalages are 1 piece.
2. Rockin textures.
3. More details.
4. More Models
After extensive testing, here are my results. I am partial to the TA4J since I have a few flight hours in one. The flight model is a drastic improvement.
1. All of the applicable Hardpoints are there, including the pilot stations, and fuel.
2. There is a pilot reference for every model.
3. The roll rates are closer the the real ones.
4. The fuel burn is closer to what I have seen in reference data.
5. Induced drag is more realistic.
6. IT WEATHER VEINS!!!!!! Woo HOO! just like the real one.
7. Improved gauges.
8. The models look outstanding!
9. The 3D panels look close to the REAL panel layouts!
I could go on and on! There are still a few things that can use improvement, but overall, this is the best version ever. If you like VOL1 and 2, this version will knock your socks off
Thanks again RON!!!!!

As far as variety goes, you definitely get your money's worth with this product. There are more variations and textures packaged here than most simmers will ever need (or want!) The models are great, but the 2D panels could use lot of improvement. The VCs are nice, though. Overall, I don't regret buying this package...but just don't expect something on par with Aerosoft/Captain Sim/Lago products...
