Well I have continued to investigate what was going on with the Auto Pilot, too bad they don't have a forum. HOWEVER, I DISCOVERED THAT ALL SLIDERS MUST BE SET FULL TO THE RIGHT FOR REALISM. eureka, everything works well, however no FMC, but the price isn't there as well. funny, the 106 page manual makes no reference to the REALISM SLIDERS in FS9/FSX. she still doesn't autoland so at minimums disconnect the auto pilot and do your flare. I am now happy with a good purchase and good value for my 25 Euros In fact flying from the VC with the HUD turned on is excellent, visibility is great. yes there is a HUD, not mentioned in the manual lol |

Hi all. I bought this a while ago and i've just got round to really testing it as i've had problems with my PC/FSX. Firstly, I wouldn't say it is 'crap' as many other customers have written - sure it's got problems - plenty of them but I think this quite a good product. Why is it a good product? Firstly, the support is great - they're quick to respond, friendly and courteous, listen to critism and acknowledge bugs - something which cannot be said for a lot of companys. Yeah this isn't really part of the downloaded product but it helps. Secondly, I think the general quality of MD-11 is good, not excellent - but good. Panels can be frustrating with a lot bad labels but generally I think you can get a lot of fun out of it. I'm not sure about the handling - at first it seems pretty bad but after a while of flying it manually it seems realistic as far as im concerned. Lastly the manual is great and goes through the whole plane + the different systems in great detail although the grammar could be improved :) With promises of performance fixes and patches (lots out already which have really helped) this is sure to improve. |

Hello Everyone, I just bought the Sky Simulations Md-11, and all I have to say is that it is a excellent aircraft. I have only just completed my first flight and the realism of the panel is great. The panel has all the necessary systems for a good flight. This aircraft is more for the flyers whom want to start up quickly and not spend 30min doing an FMC, it has more fun features, for instance you are able to click on wing view Icons with place your camera over the wings (which is great for screenshots) The realism of the bmp of the panel is great, it really gives you a great feel of flying the plane. The exterior model of the aircraft is very nice, the wing flex is realistically modelled, for instance wing you pull the aircraft through a high G turn the wings flex up and if you fly down they flex down. The VC is not as frame rate friendly as the 2d panel, however it is still quite flyable, and it looks stunning. Sky Simulations have payed an astonishing amount attention to the texturing of the aircraft, when looking around the plane you will find that the glass is reflecting the flight deck and the panel looks just like a photo. The repaints are some of the best work I’ve seen (for a pay ware release) the texture look very much like the real ones (even sun glint) The installation was quite quick and easy, and good documemtation was included. This plane is far from garbage. If your expecting a hardcore product I guess it would be but if your looking for a 'lite' aircraft with more features than your standard CLS offering then this is a good buy. The FMC is partially functional, hydrolics are simulated, the VC is outstanding for this class of add-on, and the external animations are nice. I was floored when I saw the maintenance man walking with the pushback truck on pushback. This package is very nice inside and out. This is what all 'lite' aircraft should be. The downside right now is the autopilot. Mine nose dives as soon as the Glide Slope becomes active. Two default GPS screens are used which hurt framerates. I'd rather not see the background (the default GPS) and just have the option to see the route only. I didn't see a weather display with this product. There some suspect ways of activating switches such as IAS and NAV/GPS modes. I couldn't find a way to turn on the pitot heat so flying through clouds knocked out my speed tap. Once that happen the autopilot can no longer hold virticle speed for some reason. I couldn't understand this as I'd swear that's the default AP under there. All in all this product is good but does have some initial bugs. At this time it's up in the air how the developers plane to support this add-on. If support is good and all bugs are ironed out this could be the add-on to get for some time concerning 'lite' MD11's in our community. I can't give it 5 stars because of the bugs that's present. Getting back to the bad reviews here for this product, if your going to compare this product to the PMDG version that's coming out, that only means you didn't know what you were getting out the gate. This is not a hardcore product and shouldn't be judged as such. This is a very nice 'lite' aircraft that still needs a little work as of the writing of this review. Only time will tell how this is supported. |

I would like to provide an update to my last post/review. Yesterday I spent 6 hours reading the manual and flying the aircraft. I spent at least four hours flying a variety of ILS approaches. certainly the FMC is very different and a mix of FS9 and their own, They have put the standard GPS into the formfactor and labels of an FMC. The models graphics are excellent. even the details on the landing struts and flaps well done. YOU MUST READ THE MANUAL as the processes are specific. for instance on an ILS approach you must capture the localizer BEFORE the g/s otherwise the plane dive bombs. Definitely the Auto Pilot has some bugs. IN fact what appears to be an A/P that will capture altitude defined is according to the manual just a reference point, The engine sounds are quite good ans spool up with the sliders more than 50% is great. The aircraft does not have AUTOLAND although the button is labelled that way In fact on the turns you must apply trim so you don't loose a couple of 1000 feet of altitude. overall it is still over priced but certainly a challenge to learn to fly her. The add-ons at the gate are a nice touch, but they should have spent more time on the Auto Pilot. She does fly well by hand for a large aircraft. |
