I've been flying this the last couple days and just want to point out that this is quite a nice aircraft for the WWII warbird lover. For the price it is definately well worth it.
Exterior modelling is nicely done as is the weathered and used looking textures.
2d panel is functionally good but the virtual cockpit is really quite nice. The VCis very detailed and has custom gauges with Russian text. Switches and other items are clickable from the VC and trim wheels display a degree reading as a mouseover which is handy. Also the gauges within the VC are quite fluid. They are quite smooth which is anice surprise.
It would have been nice to have had an authentic WWII era pilot at the controls instead of a guy with a long sleeve shirt and blue jeans on. I have read that this will be altered in an update though.
I find the aircraft to be quite a handful getting off of and onto the ground. It would have been nice to have a manual for flight suggestions especially where trim settings are concerned for takeoff. I've found what appears to be a good aileron trim setting for takeoff through trial and error. It is probably the most exreme WWII tail-dragger I've tried in FS2004 and has been quite a challenge to get a handle on for take-off and landing.
Of course I've never flown one of these in reality (no really!) but the flight model seems well done. The plane is a bit sluggish at lower speeds and aileron and elevator trim settings are in need of adjustment at various speeds. This plane just feels very good and authentic.
The sound is exceptional. This really makes the whole thing feel great. It's got great rumble and no problems due to sound looping I can hear. Engine shut-down has a brief bass sound which gives a nice feel that the engine just cut off but not instantly (I've heard some other addons' soundsets which end too abruptly).
All in all , this is a nice package and I'm most impressed. It may not have the attention to detail of a Captain Sim Yak-3 but for this low price it is a great addon. I wouldn't have complained if it was nearer $20. Even so, I think I'll assign this Mig-3's sounds to the CS Yak-3 as I find the CS Yak-3 sounds a bit like a lawnmower.
