Mexico City International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México or AICM), also called Benito Juárez International Airport (IATA: MEX, ICAO: MMMX) is a commercial airport that serves Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. It is Mexico's busiest airport by both passenger traffic and aircraft movements. Although this was not its official name for several decades, it was formally named after the 19th century president Benito Juárez in 2006, and is Mexico's main international and domestic gateway. In recent years Toluca airport has become an alternate airport.
This hot and high airport is served by 31 domestic and international airlines and offers direct flights to more than 100 destinations worldwide. In 2010, the airport served 24,130,535 passengers. In optimal conditions, and with the current renovations and expansion projects completed, the Benito Juárez airport will be able to handle up to 32 million passengers per year. It provides non-stop services from Mexico City to North America, Central America and Caribbean, South America, Europe and Asia (Aeromexico is the only airline that flies to Far East from Mexico City).
As the main hub for Mexico's largest airline Aeroméxico and a secondary hub for its subsidiary Aeroméxico Connect, the airport has become a SkyTeam hub. It is also a hub for Interjet and a focus city for VivaAerobus.
Mexico City International Airport is the Latin America's second busiest airport by passenger traffic after Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo, Brazil and the busiest airport by aircraft movements. The airport houses a wide variety of lodging options for its passengers, including hotels inside Terminal 1 (the Hilton Hotel, the Camino Real, and the Fiesta Inn), also a NH Hotel at Terminal 2.

Very nice scenery indeed! Although I haven't spent much time flying around Mexico, I decided to buy this scenery and spend more time exploring the country. I'm glad that I did :o)
I initially bought version 1 about a week or so ago and then received an email from the developer stating that version 2 is available for purchase for a very low price for version 1 owners. Typically developers like to provide free updates for current owners but I suppose this particular developer hasn't caught on to that idea yet. At any rate, I spent the few US dollars to upgrade and didn't see much of a transition from V1 to V2. Moreover, I wrote the developer an email concerning the proper installation of V2 since I already had V1. There are no instructions for V1 owners, so if you aren't adept at such things, one may have V1 and V2 installed at the same time. This will not work well at all. Uninstall V1 and only use V2.
I have to say, the developer responded to my email within 15 minutes of writing to him about the lack of instructions for V1 owners and several other small issues with the scenery. I was quite impressed with his prompt reply. Moreover, Cesar did indicate that there are known issues with the AFCAD of MMMX and it is currently being worked on.
All-in-all, this scenery is quite detailed and has ALOT of eye candy. Frame rates suffer while on approach and shortly after take off, however. I generally get 50-60 FPS at many addon airports I have but this airport drags them down to 25 and 30 FPS while on approach...with the PMDG aircraft in particular. Fortunately there have been no out of memory errors or CTDs with this scenery.
Take a chance with MMMX on bad weather days...especially since the airport has a field elevation of around 7,700 ft. Makes low visibility transitions to the ILS quite interesting with the mountainous terrain surrounding the airport. This scenery is definitely a must! |
