Welcome to the first release of VERO Flight Simulation Environment Lab. California Scenery.
Fly over the real World as never before. That's right! The ortho-photos used for this scenery have been optimized to reach the best luminosity, contrast and color balance/intensity so, good-bye to those blend and washed-out ground we were used to.
This San Francisco Bay scenery covers an area of 38.153 sq. Km (14.731 sq. Miles) featuring:
- 1m/pixel and 30cm/pixel resolution aerial imagery
- Autogen (more autogen for free every week)
- High Resolution 30cm/pixel for the areas around San Francisco, San Jose, Napa, San Carlos, Oakland international airports
- Precisely made night variation textures
40.000 sq.km coming every 2 weeks, thanks to the optimization technique developed by VERO-FS that allows the production of very large areas in a very short time frame.
NOTE: The price is incredibly low for the quality of this product and for the covered area, but it is meant to be lowered for the next releases, as the number of buyers increase. So, spread the word and help the price go down for the remaining upcoming releases that will cover the entire state of California.

Not wanting to spend an extra 40EUR, I bought the download at an unmissable 11.89. Which was fine until it came to downloading all 23GB of it. The good thing was that the download is broken into 6 4.37GB chunks + a 9 page manual. I found that it was great to leave downloading during the day so that you could go to work or whatever and when you got back it would be finished leaving you all you bandwidth for you evening flights. (1.5 to 3Mb connection = 8 to 9 hours per chunk). After following simple instructions in the manual, it was installed in no time. This is a really amazing add-on! The superb clarity of the ground textures is unbelievable - right down to 1500ft! It was also nice to see the higher res 30cm photoreal showing fantastic detail around the major airports in the area! If Vero produce all the free updates to this as they say they're going to, it will make this even better! :o This has to be the best photoscenery I have ever purchased! |

Outstanding detail, by far the best photo scenery I've ever seen for FSX. I have just about every commercial scenery package for California there is, and quite a few more freeware add-on scenery.
As I was flying right after installing it I was just astonished by the beauty of this scenery; I was just captivated by it.
All I could say was WOW!

My first review and i've been a flight simmmer since the introduction of FS98!
I've have always used photoscenery from it's first large scale introduction in early days of FS2004 and have seen, read and experienced all the foibles and headaches that everyone else has. I have not felt compelled to ever comment or review a product, good or bad (and like everyone else i've spent good money on the bad)but this is my exception.
I purchased the Vero San Francisco several days ago and wanted to really spend some quality time flying in my local area,(East Bay, North Bay through Sac) and i can say without hesitation that this is the photoscenery to have. The producer of this product states that it may not be the best for people that fly helicopters within FSX, well, , i only fly helicopters and i cant' believe the resolution i'm seeing at 600 to 700 feet. I can easily go VFR and follow interstate 80 from Oakland to Sacramento and unlike other photosceneries, the highway remains clearly a highway all the way thru. The cities along the highway, Vallejo, Fairfield, Davis are easily identified and at 1000 foot and above from the vc, the immersion is incredible.
Drawbacks, their introduction package dosen't contain much autogen other than at the specified airports,(which look alot better than the stock FSX and are more accurately placed) but from what i understand and read on their website, they are placing the autogen/buildings as they develop the scenery package and will be constantly updating their sceneries per usage. The file size is big but manageable and is seasonal vs. summer only like almost every photosenery available today. Frame rates, , no hit on frame rates at all and if you are using any major area coverage photoscenery you already know that it takes longer to load than non photoreal scenery.
Other than what i've mentioned, (and the producers are currently working on those things) all i can say is WOW! I'm Very Happy!

Sorry. Perhaps this is an amazing add-on - but I wouldn't know because I have no idea how to install it. It does not come with an installer, as it says on this very page, and the manual mentioned above does not exist anymore. The Vero homepage is a mess and does not offer any help. If the manual comes back online and I manage to make everything work, I probably come back and edit this review; but, until then... sorry. |
