Virtavia The Sea Vixen is a striking aircraft that was originally intended for land-based service. The prototype was first flown on 26 September, 1951, and its mate joined the programme on 25 July 1952. In latter 1954, touch-and-go trials were performed on the deck of the HMS Albion. The first order for the Sea Vixen was place in January, 1955, with the first full-stop, arrested landing being achieved aboard the Ark Royal in 1956. The production versions began arriving in March, 1957. Officially known as the DH.110, later versions were equipped with additional fuel capacity and more advanced armament and electronics, along with more powerful engines.
