Making its maiden flight in 1947, the Fairchild C-119 was developed from the wartime C-82 Packet.

The twin booms and high-set wing suspend a rudimentary box-shaped fuselage designed to carry large amounts of cargo and parachute troops for delivery to the front line. It is no surprise then, that the design quickly earned its nickname, “The Flying Boxcar”.

When production ceased in 1955, over 1,100 examples had been built in various configurations including heavily-armed “Shadow” and “Stinger” gunships.

This venerable cargo-hauler was used extensively in the Korean War dropping thousands of tons of much-needed supplies and countless parachute troop drops. It saw service with the US Navy, US Marine Corps and the USAF.

The USAF Strategic Air Command operated C-119s from 1955 through to 1973 and the type saw service in many covert actions including aerial recovery of secret film from spy satellites.

Many other nations also operated “Boxcars” and the aircraft also served in civilian guise as a tanker and bulk cargo carrier.

Our model includes many special features including a fully detailed cargo bay, deployable para-troops and a cargo-drop function. The cockpit is authentically modelled and provides a highly realistic flying experience.

Amazing features

  • Hi-fidelity models with a huge amount of authentic detail
  • Authentic cockpit with all controls accurately portrayed and animated.
  • Detailed cargo bay with opening doors.
  • Animated, realistic Pilot, co-pilot and Loadmaster figures.
  • Highly detailed P&W radial engines with superb stereo sound pack.
  • Animations include all flying surfaces, flaps, trimtabs and authentic landing gear operation.

In game options

  • A special configuration facility allows you to set the aircraft for a “Cold-Dark” start, select cargo options and carry out parachute drops from a selectable 2D panel.
  • A choice of “clean” , cargo or paratroop drop versions is provided for creating missions.

8 liveries and a paintkit

  • 8 Authentic liveries cover examples from the US and International forces.
  • Textures are created using new-technology “PBR Workflow” techniques as used in many of today's successful computer games. This brings a new level of realism to your flight simulation experience!
  • A “Pro”-quality paint-kit is provided to create your own liveries and paint schemes.

Now with the added bonus of the film version of "the Phoenix" with cartridge starting functionality and more!

Compatibility information

The Fairchild C-119 The Flying Boxcar is compatible with all versions of Prepar3d with the following notes

NAV/GPS/HOLD SWITCHES P3D compatibility information

If you fly FSX, the AUTOPILOT can be used to follow a nav course and also the GPS. In P3DV3, you can also do this but it may require the aircraft to be closer to the VOR radials than in FSX. In P3DV4+, DO NOT USE the GPS/NAV switch or the NAV HOLD switch. The Autopilot will operate but only in its original, limited form. That is to hold course, altitude and/or speed.

Use the xxxx_P3D_32bit installer for P3d up to 3.x. ( will automatically find version 3 ).
Use the xxxx_P3D_64bit for P3d V4.0+.

MLD SCENERY - LRIA - IASI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT P3D
Igor
Excellent product! FPS friendly, a lot of details, I really like it! Without any regret, take it, if you like to fly small, cute airports! It is ideal for medium long flights from central and western Europe with regional aircrafts. Keep your work in this direction MLD!
A_A SCENERIES - KUALA LUMPUR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT V2 KLIA FSX

It is awesome. Great texture. It feels really good to fly in KLIA. Good job. Hope there will be more product especially Malaysia or ASEAN related.
MK-STUDIOS - DUBLIN P3D4
Michael
I own over 70 P3Dv4+ payware airports from so many great developers, but with the new version 1.10 I think Dublin might be the absolute best on my system in terms of performance + detail + texture + lighting. Fantastic job by MK-Studios
TURBINE SOUND STUDIOS - BOEING 787 TRENT1000 HD PILOT EDITION SOUNDPACKAGE FSX P3D
Richard
Couldn't be happier. I love the qw787 and with these sounds it's simply wonderful. Going to get the genx pack soon.
ONCOURSE SOFTWARE - PF3 - ATC AT ITS BEST FSX P3D FS2004

if you are looking for a touch of realism this is the atc program for you. pf3 has the ability to render atc for vfr and ifr flight plans , from the simple direct route to complex sids and stars. Because of the many options in pf3 it gives you the ability to customize everything. there are to many features to list but I would recommend this program to any one who is serious about making their flight as real as possible.
GAFFER SIMULATIONS - OR TAMBO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT P3D4 - JOHANNESBURG
ELMAR
I was missing the major airport in SA, just having CPT was not enough. I knew that the quality of it would not be FT or FB. Having said that its pretty good and beats the default airport. The surroundings plus vegetation could do with a bit more visual design, a bit plain at times. But then again you park at the get and the important things such as Terminal plus Sode gates are implemented. In all satisfactory and it does the job fine. I great thanks to the developer to include a fix for the airports name change so you can get UTLIVE to work with easy enough instructions to implement. You can't beat this for the price. Joburg as been sort of abandoned by many devolopers. who rather make a scenery again that has been done before by someone else. At least Gaffer offers a decent upgrade to the default.

CENTRALSIM - TJBQ RAFAEL HERNANDEZ INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - AGUADILLA P3DV4
Robert
A beautifully made rendition of Aguadilla Intl' Airport that works very smoothly even with VR and the PMDG NGXu on my computer, using Active Sky weather. I walked all over this airport with the Avatar comparing it to what I was seeing in Google Maps, and it seems accurately made to the real airport, even to the Aguadilla Bowling Alley just in the front of the main terminal. I don't believe that the graphic hit is really any more than the default airport. It is great to have another airport for Puerto Rico that will give a nice destination for the little island from TJSJ Luis Muñoz Marín Intl' Airport in a small regional turbo-prop or GA aircraft. Perfect for a low altitude sight-seeing flight. I grabbed this jewel of an airport as soon as I seen it and I'm definitely not disappointed at all. It's a real value for the money.
JUSTSIM - EBBR - BRUSSELS AIRPORT V2 P3D4.4+
Eduardo
I give the product 4 starts because the new PBR textures introduced a bit of stuttering on my sim and the new textures load times of the airport buildings are a bit slow while my aircraft is on the air flying low over the airport. Compared to the original version this one is obviously looking better, but at the cost of lower and variable FPS in my sim.
MK-STUDIOS - DUBLIN P3D4
Ken
I have previously used the Eiresim Dublin and Aerosoft Mega Airport Dublin products. But this version by MK Studios is by far the best so far. Superb detailing, performance and lighting. And no installation issues arose. I therefore highly recommend.
