The Fairey Firefly was designed to fill a 1939 specification for a two seat, single engine, front gun fighter for the Fleet Air Arm, to replace the Fulmar which was about to enter service as a rush measure.

Due to other demands on the first Firefly F1s weren’t delivered until March 1943, with 1770 forming as the first operational squadron in July 1944 and soon in action taking part in the pre-D-Day attacks on the Tirpitz.  Subsequent operations would see 1770, 1771, and 1772 operating in the Indian and Pacific Oceans with Fireflies being the first British built combat aircraft to fly over the Japanese islands.

Towards the end of the war the radar equipped FR.1 and NF.1 were introduced, the former for armed reconnaissance, the later for night interception.  Both arrived in the Pacific too late to take part in combat but were busy throughout the region up to the outbreak of the Korean War when 827 squadron took part in the first air strike of the war with its F.1 and FR.1 aircraft.

VIRTUALCOL - JETSTREAM SUPER 31 FOR FSX
L R
I have FS2004, XP11, Aerofly, P3D V5.3 and MSFS and my utilisation of each of is determined by a number of factors. FS2004 is still my favourite largely due the large amount scenery and add-ons which still look good on a fairly high spec rig, which is dedicated to FS2004. I bought the FS2004 version of this 'aircraft' and have now have the FSX/P3D version which runs in P3D V5.3 without any issues that I have been able to discover at the time of this review. The interior is still not up to the standard of Carenado, but it is reliable (unlike the Falcon 50 by said developer) Hav-
ing spent hours with the MOM for the real aircraft it appears that that the fuel capacity and consumption need tweaked via the config file (see LM P3D guide on this) but that aside everything else appears to conform at price expectation and this 'aircraft' is a terrific value proposition. It's a subjective view but Virtualcol show so much promise and I will be duplicating my FS2004 purchases for P3D.

CARENADO - C185F SKYWAGON BUSH FSX P3D
Christopher
I love bush planes, I've flown just about all of them out there but this plane is one of my favorites to fly. You get three variants of the plane, Tundra Tire, Floats and Skis. It does not however come with the standard tire variant, it seems Carenado had released that as a separate plane. This plane is so much fun to fly. The unique characteristics of the C185F Skywagon makes each variant fun and sometimes challenging. The engine sounds are quite good, both inside and outside the plane. I could listen to this engine running all day long. I can verify it works just fine in P3Dv5 like most other Carenado planes. So why four stars and not five (I probably should've knocked off two stars but I just like it so much otherwise)? It's VC is pretty dated looking compared to most other Carenado planes. You have to be able to get past that in order to really enjoy the plane. If not for that, it would be a 5 star plane easy. It is still definitely worth the cheap price in my opinion. I would give anything for Carenado to redo the cockpit and do the C185F proud but I guess it's better than having no C185F.
