Boa Vista International Airport - Atlas Brasil Cantanhede (IATA: BVB, ICAO: SBBV) is an international airport in the municipality of Boa Vista, in Roraima. It is 3.5 km from the center of Boa Vista. It is the main airport in the state of Roraima, and is also the airport for scheduled flights located further north of Brazil.
The Airport developed all the activities inherent to Civil Aviation, providing the services of several airlines, hangars and cargo terminals. It welcomes the various support services, such as fuel supply companies. In 2009, it underwent a renovation, which included improvements in architecture, modernization with the implementation of elevators, escalators, two boarding bridges, among others. In it are also installed companies that develop the most diverse commercial activities, such as banks (ATMs), handicraft store, travel agency, car rental, taxi, magazine stand, luggage storage and food court.
It has representativeness of several public agencies with direct attributions with the airport activity and / or preservation of public order. The airport operates 24 hours a day, with landings and takeoffs, maintenance, cargo and commercial activities, concentration of activities between 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and from 00:00 am to 03:00 am.
Inaugurated on February 19, 1973, it underwent a major renovation in 1998, having expanded the passenger terminal, the landing and take-off runways and the maneuvering yard - the runway being built.
On April 13, 2009, the President of the Republic Luís Inácio Lula da Silva enacted Law 11,920 / 2009, which the former Boa Vista International Airport was renamed Boa Vista International Airport - Atlas Brasil Cantanhede, in honor of the pioneer aircraft pilot in the then Federal Territory of Rio Branco during the 1950s. According to Infraero, the airport has the capacity to receive 1.4 million passengers per year.
