Rome Ciampino "G. B. Pastine" International Airport (IATA: CIA, ICAO: LIRA), is an airport facility located south-east of Rome. Ciampino airport was born, in 1916, as a yard for airships, on 1 December 1926 the "P" Department was established, under the Ministry's Cabinet, for the transport of high personalities. In 1930 it will then be opened to civil flights. Today it is an international airport that absorbs most of the traffic coming from Low Cost airlines and the main base of the National Civil Protection fleet of fire-fighting aircraft.
