Edmonton is the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta. Located on the North Saskatchewan River, it is the center of the Edmonton Capital Region, which is surrounded by Central Alberta. The city forms part of the northern end of what Statistics Canada defines as the "Calgary–Edmonton Corridor"

Edmonton is a wealthy city, the processing, refining and distribution of oil, as well as the production of oil products, are Edmonton's main source of income.
