Description
Romantic Railroads shows the German Railways DRG Class BR03 Express Steam locomotive as it was in service in Germany during 1920-1945 and the Polish version when used from the late 1950s to 1968. Romantic Railroads includes different steam locomotives and tender variants, along with several passenger coaches of the Deutsche Reichsbahn and the PKP Railways in Poland.
All the locomotives, tenders and wagons have many animated features such as opening smokeboxes with visible interiors, animated water hatches, moving maintenance access blinds in the streamlined version, functional filling of the sandboxes as well as special features on the coaches.
All the locomotives feature extensive scripting to make the driving experience as authentic as possible. Two versions of each locomotive are included - a Simple version for easy driving and a more complex version that requires more skill to stop priming and even boiler explosion!
The eight types of coaches include various animations that include doors, windows and even the passengers; some even have music playing! Leaking steam heating effects are included.
To help make this a really authentic experience, not only are the locomotives and carriages highly authentic, but in the scenarios many custom period objects are on show for you to interact with and view as you drive. You will see animated ox carts, steam rollers and even a Zeppelin flying overhead. All these custom objects can also be used by scenario builders when creating their own scenarios.
Seven standard scenarios are included along with five Free Roams for the Hagen-Siegen, Seeberg-Bahn and the Munich-Augsburg routes.
All the locomotives and Coaches are Quick Drive enabled.
Important! This add-on is compatible with Train Simulator 2015 but if you do not already have the European Loco & Asset Pack installed (available to purchase from Dovetail Games via Steam) then you will need it to allow the add-on to display correctly. Please note that this pack may be included in other products purchased from Dovetail games via Steam.
LOCOMOTIVES
All the locomotives have special functionality such as opening of the smoke box door, wind-deflectors, sand-dome, open/close operation of the maintenance blinds on the streamlined version and more.
Two versions of each locomotive are included: a Simple version and a more complex version. You can decide which you prefer to drive. The Simple locomotive versions can be used as AI locomotives.

18 December 2013 - This add-on has now been updated to include another version , the rebuilt 03 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn from the 1970s (period IV). It is the 03 2228-9 which had 1000mm sized leading wheels.
The BR03 engines that were used for Interzonal traffic had to be equipped for use on routes in Western German with an Indusi (Inductive Train Safety) system. Normally the system was an original Siemens I60 or Romanian built replicas called I 60 Icret.
The 03 2228-9 model featured in this pack has a built-in Indusi system monitoring that responds to both default Train Simulator 2014 track placed magnets, as well as to vR magnets (1000 Hz, 500 Hz and 2000 Hz). This way, the locomotive can be used effectively on all current routes available for the TS2014 (freeware and payware).
