Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport (IATA: SIG, ICAO: TJIG, FAA LID: SIG), also commonly known as Isla Grande Airport, is a small airport in Miramar, which is a district in the municipality of San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is owned by the Puerto Rico Ports Authority[1] and is adjacent to the new Puerto Rico Convention Center, the San Juan Bay, and the Pan American Cruise Ship Terminal, and overlooks Cataño. While Isla Grande's main operation is with general aviation, it is still a commercial airport, dealing with some domestic and international commercial flights.

The Scenery

Isla Grande Airport is an excellent destination for flight simulation! It is composed of several FBOs and Flight Schools for general aviation, a revenue terminal. and Army National Guard and Police Department Helicopter Operation facilities. The terminal hosts hourly flights to local destinations such as Culebra and Vieques Island (also featured by Photorico as freeware). The typical simmer will enjoy hoping into a relatively short corporate flight from the East Coast US, and once in Isla Grande transfer into a turboprop or small twin engine to their final tropical destination. Or, climb into a Law Enforcement Helicopter to patrol one of the oldest cities in America, and the oldest under the US Flag...San Juan!!, where you will enjoy a highly detailed rendering of Spanish colonial architecture, and the state's government headquarters (Palacio de Santa Catalina and the Capitol building).

Upon approach to Isla Grande you will find the major VFR position reporting points have been modelled, such as the Levitown Water Tank to the west, the Bacardi Plant wind turbines upon final, and Plaza Carolina shopping mall to the east for the Class C River Transition over San Juan International Airport (TJSJ). Shortly after an eastbound takeoff on Runway 09, the simmer will find a fully detailed Dos Hermanos bridge and San Juan Bay Marina for a realistic Dos Hermanos Departure. Because all current VFR visual reference points have been included, this scenery makes it a great tool for aispace familiarization for full scale pilots, and at the same time provide a beautiful rendition of the city around the pattern.

This scenery has been developed to work with the already popular TJSJ by LatinVFR, providing for a TOTAL San Juan experience.

Update Review: I initially gave this scenery a 3 star, but after having a great interaction with the developers, I've come back to give it the highest rating because I didn't take into consideration that there are support documents and updated files that has made this scenery a must have if you fly into San Juan Puerto Rico, and use LatinVFR. These two scenery work well together, as long as you follow the instructions in deleting one file, adding another, and setting maximizing your system VAS tolerance correctly. There is only one issue, which for now I can live with, given the fact that the developers are aware and looking for ways to address it in the future, and that is a couple of buildings flicker.

Blends well with LatinVFR TJSJ and surrounding area, but in order to see El Moro and other buildings, you really need to crank up the scenery detail way up, other wise, you won't see it. That's not a deal breaker, but if you are trying to watch your VAS usage, you are going to suffer a bit, unless you're not flying a heavies. If you are generally a GA or Corporate pilot, then this is a great addon, but if you are a heavy pilot, this scenery adds no value as you fly into TJSJ. I use ChasePlane, and it was interesting to see my VAS go from -1.56Gb with just LatinVFR, to -0.25Gb in combination with this scenery, using the Aerosoft Airbus, and PMDG 737 NGX.

If you like to fly in Puerto Rico this is a must and works great with LatinVfr TJSJ!!! Not bad at all, I almost didn't pull the trigger because I have LatinVFR's TJSJ and didn't the sense in having two airport in such proximity. Im glad I did though departed from Tropical sims Punta Cana and was welcomed with the beatiful redemtion of Isla Verde Airport. I love the cruise ships docked so close to the runway.
