Up to now, Allison Ranch, one of the most dangerous field in the world, was still missing in FSX. Now it is there. It’s the faithful copy of the short strip – a true test for all future bush pilots. Landing there is on the final exam for becoming a member of The MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship). Allison’s brutal last turn is a legend among the chosen few who made it!
A few miles up the Salmon River, you will find «Yellow Pine Bar, a short and curved grass runway.
A bit further up, the steep «White Water» field will give you the impression of landing toward a wall.
Three backcountry airstrips, suitable for STOL aircrafts. If I could choose my aircraft, I would take a Quest Kodiak to land there.
This scenery does not pretend to compete with some commercial products, but it has been designed with accuracy and, especially with passion. The satellite images come from different sources and have been touched up; the objects are from the FSX library.
The best quality scenery should are obtained using Ultimate Terrain X USA.
Since the spot is not listed in FSX, I’ve added a file «Allison ranch» in your “saved flights” which will take you in position for takeoff at Allison Ranch.
Otherwise the coordinates are N45° 33.95’ W115° 13.56’ You must start at an Idaho airport and find the place «by hand».

Recommended aircrafts to land in these fields ranges from the Piper Cub to the Twin Otter. I must say that with the Twin Otter it is rather challenging. I know it because I have tried !
Note that I have a french pilot license with a “mountain landing” qualification and lots of mountain airfields certifications, which doesn’t make me an expert but rather a short field amateur with some experience. Therefore it was quite natural to contribute to this kind of exercise for the pleasure of FSX users.
