The Coronel Carlos Concha Torres regional airport serves the port city of Esmeraldas in northwestern Ecuador. Originally built in 1940 in Tachina, this airport has been strategic in Ecuador's oil industry and is a popular tourist destination for locals and foreigners due to the beautiful nearby beaches. In 2012 the airport was modified and in 2014 a new terminal was inaugurated.
