The Republic of Djibouti, a place steeped in history…:
Since 1967 the country of Djibouti is called French territory of Afars and Issas (TFAI). June 27th of 1977, the independence is proclaimed, giving birth to the Republic of Djibouti with at its head the president Hassan Gouled Aptidon. In 1999, the Republic of Djibouti has a new president Ismaël Omar Guellel.

Moucha and Mascali islands are located at 14 km from the town of Djibouti, in the North-East. You will be able to admire boats and some big fish if you fly at low altitude. These islands are a paradise for amateurs of underwater fishing.
Devil's Islands and the Ghoubett Path :
The two islands, the large island (Ginni Kôma) and the northerly small one (Ounda Ginni Kôma), are volcanos of phreatic explosive origin. In this region close to the Rift valley, you will be able to see sharks, whales and dolphins.
The Assal lake :
As well for tourism as for geology, this area constitutes a completely exceptional place of interest. Indeed, the Assal Lake is a natural curiosity located at 160 meters below the sea level. It is a magnificent area composed of volcanos and black lavas. The region of the Assal Lake is unquestionably one of the warmest area of the planet with temperatures which can reach 50 °C.
The Assal Lake appears among the most surprising phenomena of the globe.
The volcano
Close to the Assal Lake, several volcanoes rise. The most recent one, Ardoukoba, appeared in 1978 and provoked 2 earthquakes on the city of Djibouti. A few kilometers from the volcano, you can see the bottom of the gulf of Tadjourah, known as “Devil's abysses”.
