Finally, a hyper-realistic representation of Alaska that does justice to the majesty and grandeur of this spectacular wilderness.
Over 40,000 sq km of stunning scenery published in 4 volumes. Offering seamless coverage of Anchorage, Chugash, Portage, Seward, Kenai Peninsula, Homer and the Kenai Fjords. 'Alaska Cinematic' has an abundance of mountains, rivers, glaciers, lakes, valleys, canyons, marshland, coves, and coastline. All rendered in ultra-high resolution to provide an, experience that only Georender sceneries offer!
Contextual autogen throughout gives a startling 3D sense, adding depth and volume to the entire region. Sophisticated processing and modelling techniques allow the representation of icefields and glaciers that are blindingly white, richly coloured geological formations, hundreds of landable lakes and waterways.

This is a jaw-droppingly beautiful photographic scenery expansion for an area of Alaska around and to the south of Anchorage. The Georender name is synonymous with high quality airfield sceneries, chiefly in the Washington State area; this is a different direction for the developer, but one which has been executed to the same high standard.
The main problems with photographic sceneries are two-fold. Firstly, the blurry ground textures that are caused when the FS display engine fails to keep up with the large numbers of texture tiles to be loaded, and secondly, the generally fuzzy appearance of the scenery itself when viewed from too close. This is why photo scenery usually looks best from a height of at least 2000ft.
Don't ask me how, but this scenery seems almost free of these two issues. The developer recommends some display and config settings, which on my machine at least, all but eliminated the dreaded "blurries". Furthermore, the carefully crafted autogen, combined with the extremely high resolution of the scenery, ensures that it looks good at much closer range than one would have any right to expect. Just as well as the mountainous terrain covered means you will often be closer to the scenery tiles than you would have thought!
The unwieldy download size will be a problem for those without a high-speed connection, but hey, the level of detail and area covered account for that.
Verdict : this is easily the best implementation of photographic scenery for FS that I have seen. The screenshots barely do justice to landscapes so mouthwateringly pretty, you will spend the rest of your days flying in spot view, just so you can admire them. Do yourself a favour, and buy this. An absolute steal at the price! |

Superb photographic scenery of Anchorage area. I hate it when you buy a photographic scenery and you feel like your an island in the sea of microsoft's default textures. This scenery doesn't have that problem because not only does it cover a large area. It also blends in well with the default Alaska.
I have never visited the area in real life, but the scenery is so good it actually feels as if i have. Might i say that georender have chosen an excellent area to repoduce in FS.
With my settings correctly set for Photo scenery i didn't get any huge problems with bluriness of the textures. Unless i flew too fast over the area.
In my opinion the only problem with this scenery is the lack of a good airport scenery to go with it. I'm still going to give five stars because Georender promises to release follow on sceneries possibly containing airports.
Well Done GEORENDER! |

Incredible,amazing, but.....
I could go on and on about how incredibly realistic the scenery is but the pictures tell a hundred words.I fly this area around Anchorage and use FScargo and Im in sim heaven.
Just be aware there are problems, some big.
I run a AMD 3500+,2 gigs,7800gtx and its setup for sims. The framerates are fine but I am having to reload the scenery every few minutes. Kinda ruins the flow. It takes my high end system about 10 seconds or so but gets old quick and if you time accellerate any you will need to reload. I could see how a lesser ststem or one not configured right could be in for some problems. Mostly blurries and jerkyness.
There are changes listed so you can edit your fs9.cfg but that upsets and degrades the rest of the world.
So if you are willing to accept a few hassles and maybe do some tweaking, you cannot ask for a more impressive and realistic area to bush fly or just sight see. |
