Lhasa Gonggar Airport is located at Gyazuling of the Gonggar County. It is built on the bank of the magnificent Yarlung Tsangpo River (the Brahmaputra River). At an elevation of 3,500m (11500 ft.) above sea level, the airport is one of the highest in the world. Its runway, with airport rank 4E, at 4,000 meters (13,000 ft.) with a width of 45 meters (148 ft.), is designed to handle wide-bodied aircraft in the thin Tibetan air. The airport can fully accommodate jumbo jets like Boeing 747 and Airbus 340-300 to take off and land.

Lhasa Gonggar Airport was upgraded in 2001 and started to serve on January 1st, 2004. The newly built apron can park 5 Airbus 340s or 7 Boeing 757s at a time. The terminal area is about 25000 m² and has the facility to check in 1,300 passengers per hour during peak hours. A new runway (4000m*45m) marked 09L-27R has been built and the former runway is used for taxiing purpose.

Pilots landing at Lhasa Gonggar Airport must be specially trained in handling maneuvers at landing at the high altitude of 3,700 meters (12,100 ft.). Given the frequency of strong air currents picking up in the afternoon most flights into the airport are scheduled in the morning.

The Lhasa photoreal scenery included as a bonus. This scenery contains daylight texture only as the airport is not capable to handling non RNP qualified aircraft at night.

Another superb scenery from Skysoft. Thankyou to Skysoft for giving us access to the airports in China and render them in such great detail. More please.... The VOR beacon of 113.10 (LXA) worked fine for me in my PA A319 of Tibet Airlines.

What you see is what you get with this airport, one of the highest in the world. Oh, I almost forgot, you have the choice of photo scenery or standard during installation. A 7 page manual lists airport specs and nav aids which is just as well since Navigraph fails to recognise ZULS's existence.
The scenery unfortunately lacks animations and AES support at time of writing.Skysoft is to be applauded for developing excellent freeware and payware scenery of China which, in the past, has not been treated well by the big names in scenery design. I can only hope that this is sufficently successful to allow SkySoft to present us with some Chinese regionals as well as ZBAA.

Mixed feeling about this product unfortunately. Pro's are that we finally have Lhasa in FS 9 and it is a nice scenery, well done, it looks good. Cons are that support so far is very poor, and it's impossible to login on the support of the website of Skysoft. The Lhasa VOR beacon is not active on the panel of the planes you're flying into or departing out of Lahsa, while it is a very important navaid out there. Next the scenery causes a CTD -even with a clean installation of XP and FS9- when flying elsewhere in China, north of waypoint WXI VOR, N36* 21.80', E114* 55.00' and KR Ndb, N39* 8.70', E114* 36.00'. This is on the great circle route between S.E. Asia and Alaska/Canada over Mongolia. So a pretty nasty bug.
So because the lack of support: only 2 starts for me.
