This airport is commonly used by tourists on holiday in the Algarve but is sharply increasing its influence throughout the business community of entire southwest Iberian Peninsula as a direct consequence of being already one of Europe's leading low cost hub airports. The majority of aircraft approach the runway directly from the direction of the Atlantic Ocean as inland the land rises sharply. A reciprocal heading is usually used for departures.
A total of 5.6 million passengers flew from Faro in 2008. It is Portugal's second International gateway, after Lisbon's International airport and mainland Iberian Peninsula's sixth most important airport after Madrid - Barajas, Barcelona - El Prat, Lisbon, Málaga and Alicante.

Well done Tropicalsim you got it spot on. I got this for 12 euros on the day and it turned out to be wotrh every cent.
I passed through LPFR last September whilst on holiday and I have to admit you guys have worked your magic....I feel like I'm back there whenever I visit (virtually that is).
The only thing missing was the chaos at the rear car park where they were doing some construction work to enlarge it!
If you do any flying in southern Portugal or fancy a visit then I would wholeheartedly recommend it. |

[FS2004 version] Nice ground- and grass-textures without seasonal changes. Nicely modelled buildings, however with rather bad night textures; especially the tarmac lighting leaves much to improve. All in all, the textures are not up to the standard known from other TropicalSim sceneries. The airport blends well into the UT-scenery. The AFCAD is exact,the layout is not up to date 2012 (concerns only Aprons East, North and M). Smooth installation. No framerate problems. No dynamic scenery but the airport comes with nice ground vehicles. Especially in connection with AES, it appears alive. The price, however, is incomprehensibly high for such a small airport with only moderate textures. On the other hand, you get both the the FS2004- and the FSX-version in one. |
