The DHC-6 Twin Otter is the ultimate go-anywhere aircraft. It was built to reliably and safely go where other aircraft don't stand a chance.
It can land on tarmac runways, mudflats, water, sand, snow, ice and does regular scheduled flights in both of the Polar Regions and to airports at extreme altitude as well as on tropical islands.
Optionally equipped with skies, tundra tires and floats there will be no place where the trusty Twin Otter will not be able to take you. With versions for cargo and passengers, 100 and 300 models and different engines we cover the whole range of this amazing aircraft.
One of the main reasons the Twin Otter still performing well after years is its rugged design. A fixed landing gear that is strong, light and cannot fail. A tall wing that keeps the engines clear of debris and is designed for STOL operation.
Installation runs via Aerosoft One, this requires an internet connection and an Aerosoft user account!

It soon became clear why Aerosoft took the extra time to release the Twin Otter.
Removing all the features the previous version had was no doubt an extensive task.

I love it, especially after the 1.0.3 update. I never understood why people complained so much about the sound. Did you every try flying on a Twin Otter? I have and the sound when taking off is horrendous until you can level off and decrease RPM and Torque.
I can agree that the transition between sounds could be improved and this is getting rerecorded now and implemented soon.
Other complaints people have made is that the HSI needle is not autoslewing. This is as it should be!
The flight model is not perfect but since MSFS now has better SDK options in the next simupdate, Aerosoft has said they are excited since they can then improve it a lot. I am looking forward to the updates coming over the next month or so.
In the mean time I continue flying my new favorite plane all over the globe. I could not be happier. :-)

Sorry, the sounds on this thing took back to FS98... the engine sounds like my cooler fan pretending to be a PT6... I just fly it on mute, to be honest. Other than that, decent addon.

Although the sounds are very bad, and I had issues with simply updating the plane, Aerosoft customer support was relatively quick and polite in remedying my issue. The plane itself is pretty fun to fly around and the range of variants they've included means you can run through a wide array of scenarios in the sim. Their system, or systems really, they use to distribute and update their products is tedious, over complicated, clunky and overall a pain to use. The plane itself is good enough despite it's numerous issues on release, mainly sounds that are just horrible. Aerosoft customer support seems pretty solid too. I cautiously recommend this plane now, but don't expect anything earth shatteringly good.

The sounds are horrid. Aerosoft requires you to install their app to download your plane and makes EVERYTHING difficult. A lot of account issues, multiple accounts need to be made, 1 for app, 1 for the support system, ANOTHER account made to check for updates. Updates are reported to have been released on their blog, and they say I need to download the latest version from SimMarket - not them. SimMarket only has a link to the Aerosoft app under Purchase History - and within the Aerosoft app, it says no updates are available. Unorganized trash and a release that had too many issues to be overlooked - a hasty release fueled by greed. I WILL NOT be purchasing ANYTHING from this company ever again and I recommend you DO NOT EITHER!

I've flown countless hours in the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended all over the world in P3D, and I was very happy to purchase it today for MSFS. My very first flights were from Princess Juliana to Saint Bart, then from Saint Bart to Saba. One thing I noticed is that the autopilot altitude hold doesn't operate quite the same. In the Twin Otter Extended, you press/activate the ALT ALERT button which will automatically turn on the ALT HOLD when you reach your programmed altitude. In this version, you cannot press/activate the ALT ALERT. Instead, this one acts as if the ALT ALERT is always activated. My only complaint is that there seems to be a shortage of liveries. However, not in the description of the product. It would have been nice to have the Winair, Skybus, Tara Air, Nepal Airlines, or even a blank livery included like most developers did in the old days. Maybe those airline liveries were left out for copywrite reasons or with the expectation the community would just create them later. Overall this is a great aircraft to fly and enjoy. I highly recommend you give it a try. It's a great addition to your hangar. Also, with a 161 page manual, it will be sure to keep you busy for many hours! Speaking of that, don't forget to read the manual, especially the section that talks about setting up your controls for the reverse thrust.

Externally, the plane is pleasant. Not difficult in mastering and learning. But physics is not at the level that I would like. Equally gains speed and height as empty and loaded to the maximum, as it seemed to me, I did not notice the difference in this. A very strange sound transition from the reverse to the usual mode of operation of the engine and back, very sharp and instant. Also instantly in the flight, the speed is recruited, you have slightly increased the power mode, the speed has instantly increased, well, it does not happen. In general, developers still have something to work on.
I liked the codiac much more in terms of physics and management. (But this is not an advertisement, it is my comparison)
And there is still a bug with skiing on the ground. They publish a permanent knock. I did not find the door to open, only cargo hatches.
