Details

As one of the largest commercial airfields in Germany, Schönhagen is developing into the most important reliever airfield for the capital’s Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER/EDDB). With around 45,000 aircraft movements and almost 300 jobs across 41 companies, Schönhagen is one of the region’s key economic hubs. Surrounded by the picturesque forests, heathlands, and lakes of the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park, Schönhagen Airport is an ideal location for renowned flight schools, flying clubs, and restaurants.

 

Whether for established companies such as Cirrus or Aquila, Schönhagen offers optimal hangar space for aircraft maintenance and development. The airfield is not just a hub for air traffic but also an important research facility. Projects such as ITEAL (Innovative Fuels for Low-Emission Air Traffic) and ALADIN (Advanced Low Altitude Data Information System) demonstrate the airfield’s involvement in cutting-edge research and development.

 

The Schönhagen airfield scenery is packed with intricate details and animations to explore. The add-on includes five special features: EDAZ Airfield, Heliport Groß Kreutz, Helipad Hospital Luckenwalde, an animated helicopter at BER, and the World Balloon at Potsdamer Platz.

 

Discover a new level of detail—this scenery is highly dynamic, changing based on the time of day, day of the week, and season. Many environmental elements, such as ice, lawnmowers, joggers, and cyclists, respond to factors like temperature, rain, and snow, ensuring no two days are the same. At the Groß Kreutz railway station, original station announcements can be heard, and a level crossing features animated barriers. Additionally, a fully animated signal system changes from red to green as trains pass. At the Luckenwalde hospital, an ambulance approaches the helipad (500 meters away) to pick up a patient.
