The name “Suvarnabhumi” means “The golden land” was given by the King Bhumiphol (King Rama IX) to the new airport that replaces Don Maung Airport. This is the gateway to Thailand. The airport project was first established in 1973. Finally after years of waiting, it was officially open in 29th September 2006. Murphy/Jahn Architects designed this airport with glass walls, metal frames and canvas. The airport has 2 parallel runways. It has a total of 120 parking bays (51 with contact gates and 69 remote gates). This airport is ranked 14th in the world by passenger traffic at 53 million passengers. (Wikipedia/World’s_busiest_airports_by_passenger_traffic)
In Microsoft Flight Simulator, either FS9 or FSX, this airport is not available because it was opened after the release of both games. This scenery is for FS2004 only. This scenery is brand new and not associated with other airports that have been released.
Features
Main terminal and concourses was made in detail including 3d metal frames. All the parts has been design to make frame rate better than any other previously released versions of this airport. The concourse was made to imitate the real thing. The glass of the concourse is coated with solar protective film, so it is difficult to see inside. There is no interior structure in this version. Unnecessary details were discarded to make frame rate at its best. Yet, the outside details that you can see from the aircraft you flying are magnificent.
Jetways were made in detail but only static ones are provided. AES support this scenery. You can get animated gate by using AES.
Satellite photo is used with ground poly since photoscenery in FS2004 is blurry.
Custom made lines, taxiway and runway. Those are made with fully optimized texture. Detail taxiway edge lights are included with new technique that gives a better frame rate.
Real 3D grass changes its colour through the season
Custom made 3D taxiway edge lights with new technique. Less impact on frame rate from almost 4000 lights. Light splash for the entire light poles, illuminate the entire airport with realistic night light.
Real 3D ALSF-2 landing light system.
Runway guard lights to all runway holding points.
Visual Guide Docking System by Arno Gerretsen, provide guide when parking to the contact gate.
Animated Thai Maintenance Hangar doors. You can open them by dial Nav1 to 112.00.
Real 3d cars in the parking lot. The models are custom made and available in Thailand.
We have made some animated vehicles for this airport of which are Thai Airways livery. However, today technology is still not possible to make this vehicle recognize your aircraft and wait for you. They will continue running on their path without crash.
Surrounding area including Thanacity Golf Course, King Mongkut Institute of Technology, Logistic Center, Airport link station and Burapha Vitae Expressway.

BANGKOK AIRPORT VOL1 SUVARNABHUMI INTERNATIONAL FS2004 is spectacular. Easily my favorite scenery from this publisher It has very little performance problems and is modeled superbly. Being a regular at SVB transiting to Phuket or Samui I see it on a regular basis and this scenery nails it. The Airport surrounds and skytrain are a neat addition as are the cars and parking lots. Thai Airways Hangers are accurately modelled and there are nice details scattered throughout the Apron, representing a very detailed Airport. A very busy hub really creates an immersive environment. I highly recommend this Scenery.
I've been to Bangkok a few times and the right feeling is definitely there. The terminals are great, really great renders. The aprons textures of the buildings are splendid. The night textures really work as well. But the ground textures outside the apron, hmm, I'm a bit skeptical. Other than that, great product. The textures at the apron however are great. I'm really into textures as you might see. If you don't care about that as much as I do you won't probably even think about it. Just go and get it! And thank you A_A for releasing stuff for fs2004 still, it means a lot to the few of us fs2004 simmers still out there.
