Yuri’s Flying Machines in P3D/FSX World

Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15UTI (NATO reporting name: "Midget") is a two-seat, dual-control jet trainer of MiG-15 developed by Mikoyan-Gurevich OKB.

MiG-15UTI had its roots in the flight training system developed in the Soviet Union in the 1930s, in which a two-seat variant of a combat aircraft is used as the lead-in trainer before conversion to the single-seat version.

MiG-15UTI Midget remained the sole Warsaw Pact advanced jet trainer well into the 1970’s, because Mikoyan-Gurevich never mass-produced the transition training versions of the later MiG-17 Fresco or MiG-19 Farmer.

MiG-15UTI had good flight characteristics, with the Klimov RD-45F engine; it produces up to 5,000 pounds of thrust, cause level speed at sea level reach to 1,050 km/h..

Noticeable change from MiG-15 is tandem cabins with two pieces canopies. Some variants produced from MiG-15Bis fitted Klimov VK-1A engine with thrust increase to 5,900 pounds for better at performing maneuvers. But new engine has more fuel combustion rate, and less internal fuel tank capacity to reduce flight endurance or range.

The other modifications include hydro booster ailerons control to help aircraft keep high roll rate when maneuver, it also has modified avionics for communication and navigation similar as MiG-17 and MiG-19.

MiG-15UTI had been operated by military aviation users in most Communist satellite nations, when it finally retired during 1990s, some aircraft sold to civil aviation owners as a new role become part of the international 'War bird' scene.

Now BearStudios takes this flight legend aircraft in Prepar3D and FSX world.

I had Bear Studios old FS2004/FSX MiG-15 for years but it had odd textures with a shaded underside which looked weird when rolling the plane. It also had the tendency to have the hydraulic system cut out for no reason. When the MiG-15 was re-introduced including an FSX native format I jumped on it. Gone were all the glitches and in were some spectacular textures including some U.S. civil registered birds currently flying! I was however saddened that the two seater was nowhere to be seen. This release cures that. This behaves and looks just as good as the single seater so I am happy with it with two exceptions. 1) There is one animation glitch on the two seater as during takeoff or landing, the wheels do not roll. Hopefully there will be a patch coming up to fix it. 2) (And this applies to both the single seater and two seater textures.) All camouflage planes seem to have the same skin effects as the natural metal birds so the camouflage paint appears to have a high gloss. I would assume these would be flat paint to hinder glare. Neither of these hamper the enjoyment of the, but it's enough to knock a star off but I still recommend this release. (I also do hope their MiG-17 will receive the same treatment in the future!!)
