There aren’t many offerings of the Mig16 or 17 around so big thank you to Bear Studios for giving the legendary MiG 17 some much needed love! This is one of my all time Cold War era favorites! Second only to the F4Phantom. These 17s gave those F4s quite a run for their money for a while. Slower but way more nimble than the big Phantoms. In many cases F4s only got away from being shot down by a MiG 16 or 17 because of their enormous speed advantage being used to escape death.
This collection has (I think?j every version of the 17 and just about all the countries that had it. Lots to choose from.
I wish that the cursor would reveal each button, switch or dials purpose for each one! Sadly only a handful will show what the switch button or dial does when rolling the mouse cursor over it! This makes it VERY difficult to know what I am about to turn off or on a lot of the time. Sure there is a extensive manual with all labeling of the clickables but man that’s a pain. So unfortunately Bear decided that all virtual MiG 17 pilots will have to read the manual or pay Russian roulette when clicking blind. That annoyance aside, I have nothing else to complain about. Everything about these are well done and I’m largely satisfied with my purchase.
The exhaust smoke leaves a cool trail and if you look up the pipe there’s a great flame effect from within. No afterburner of course. 17s never had that. Anyway if you like Cold War aircraft then you can’t ignore this.
