  • Description

The scenery is offered in two versions sold separately, one for FS2004 and another for FSX and Prepar3D v3.

BluePrint Simulations’ KCLT, Charlotte – Douglas International scenery depicts this important airport as in exists in the fall of 2015. It includes fully three-dimensional models featuring high-resolution textures throughout. It also incorporates all recent changes to the terminal complex and the airfield, making it the most detailed and accurate scenery available for this airport.

Thanks to its ideal location and driven by Charlotte’s status as the second most important financial center in the country, CLT is one of the most important airports in the southeastern US, second only to ATL. Over the years, several major airlines have used CLT as a hub, including Eastern, Piedmont/USAir and US Airways. Charlotte - Douglas will now serve as a major hub and the primary in the southeast within the route network of the new American, the world’s largest airline.

CLT’s terminal consists of the main departures and arrivals facility and five concourses that radiate from it, the classic design for airport terminals in the US at the time. American Airlines is the primary user of concourses B, C and D. Lufthansa and Insel Air, which along with Air Canada are the only international airlines serving CLT, also use concourse D as it is equipped to handle international arrivals. It is worth noting that American Airlines offers non-stop flights to several major European cities including Dublin, London, Paris, Frankfurt and Rome. Concourse E serves as an operations hub for American’s regional partners and it is one of the largest of its kind in the US. All other airlines operating at CLT including Delta and United and their regional partners plus JetBlue, Frontier, Southwest and Air Canada use concourse A.

Currently in the midst of a major overhaul and expansion, CLT has undergone a number of significant changes in the last few years. The most noticeable change affecting the terminal complex are the three massive parking structures that now accommodate short- and long-term parking and a consolidated car-rental facility. According to the airport’s master plan, the area vacated by the old car-rental facilities and located directly north of concourse A will accommodate a brand-new international terminal due to begin construction in 2016. Other recent changes to the terminal include a new departures hall and security checkpoint located just west of concourse E, an eight-gate expansion of concourse E and additional food service and administrative space located between concourses A and B.

The most relevant, recent improvements to the airfield include the third parallel runway (18R/36L) and the new taxiway along the east side of runway 18L/36R (Taxiway D). The westward expansion of the airfield to accommodate the new runway also required a new fire station located along taxiway S. The airport’s master plan also includes a fourth parallel runway located 1200 feet west of runway 18C/36C and scheduled to begin construction in the very near future.

    • Custom-made, optimized and fully three-dimensional Gmax models of the entire facility including:
      • The terminal and five concourses
      • Accurately located aircraft parking positions around every concourse and individually customized static jetways at every gate
      • Static service vehicles (optional) and parking alignment aids at every gate
      • The ATC tower
      • All parking structures adjacent to the terminal
      • A significant fraction of the general aviation, aircraft maintenance, cargo and military facilities within the field’s boundary
      • Approach lighting fixtures and navigation aid antennae for every runway
    • Custom-made, high-resolution (32 px/meter) textures for all Gmax generated models including transparency effects
    • Complimentary custom-made, high-resolution photo real ground textures depicting seasonal changes and carefully blended with the surrounding terrain
    • Accurate runway and taxiway layout, including detailed markings and signs
    • Realistic taxiway and ramp markings and ramp illumination effects
    • Advanced, custom-made AI mapping file (AFCAD) including realistic gate and parking spot layout as well as airline gate assignments. A basic AI mapping file without gate assignments is also available as an option
    • BluePrint Simulations sceneries are not compatible with FSX default animated service vehicles

    Software Compatibility:

    Prepar3D v3 and all versions of Windows 7, 8 and 10.

    Hardware Requirements:

Intel Core i5 or better (Core i7-950 @ 3.07GHz fully tested)
    4 GB RAM (fully tested)
nVidia GeForce GTX 660 series* video processor or better (nVidia GeForce GTX 660 fully tested). Dual current generation nVidia* or ATI video processor in SLI or Crossfire configuration may be required for best performance when dense Autogen and weather features are in use (2 X nVidia GeForce GTX 660 in SLI configuration fully tested)

Note: No measurable frame-rate degradation was observed in full-screen mode when using the hardware specified above as “fully tested”

    * BluePrint Simulations sceneries are designed and tested using nVidia GPU’s exclusively. For Current generation video card specifications visit nVidia.com. For ATI video card specifications visit ati.com

Attempting to use Blueprint Simulations KCLT, Charlotte - Douglas Intl Airport scenery with hardware that does not meet the specifications listed above is not recommended. We will offer limited technical support for frame-rate performance related issues if the minimum hardware specifications listed above are not met.

It's somewhat accurate, but the look is "cartoony". FPS is terrible on a very, very capable overclocked machine. They're FAQ reads this: "How can I improve BluePrint sceneries' performance in FSX? The ways to improve BluePrint Simulation sceneries' performance in FSX are quite simple : *1.Do not install the scenery * 2.Use a computer with capabilities beyond those required to run FSX by itself. If FSX is barely making it, our sceneries WILL push it over the edge! 3.Use reasonable FSX settings. If you sacrifice some terrain mesh resolution, some terrain texture resolution, some AI traffic density, some model texture resolution, and/or some weather density (i.e. frame-rate killer clouds), you will find that BluePrint products as well as other high-performance add-ons have a minimal impact on the simulator's performance." How about optimizing your scenery? Some sort of LOD enhancement? I get satisfactory performance with FSDT sceneries that are much prettier and more complex than this scenery. I'm reinstalling the older Imaginesim offering and regretting this purchase.
