The scenery is offered in two versions sold separately, one for FS2004 and another for FSX.
BluePrint Simulation’s version of KDFW is by far the most detailed and accurate available for the Microsoft Flight Simulator. It depicts DFW as it exists today including detailed renditions of its five terminals, the inter-terminal elevated tram and other terminal complex components. The most significant air traffic control, aircraft maintenance and cargo facilities are also included. All 161 jetway-equipped airline gates have been positioned as accurately as possible based on the most current aerial photography available and information obtained from DFW’s official web site. All gates are numbered and assigned to the corresponding airline based on the most recent information available.
Each 3D model is unique and painstakingly textured to accurately represent the real-life structure. Special attention was paid to the new international terminal (D) and its complex curved lines and surfaces. Each boarding gate is fitted with a unique jetway model designed to represent the real equipment. Each jetway is also numbered and labeled according to its real life user. Finally, each terminal is populated with a significant number of optional static vehicles customized to match the airline using of each gate. Finally, custom-made models for all relevant air traffic control, cargo and maintenance facilities are included. In most cases, maintenance hangars are usable. Due to the intrinsic complexity of the scenery, we included only a small fraction of the total number of non-essential buildings within the airport boundary.
As is characteristic of our sceneries, the field has been laid out accurately including all seven runways and one of the most intricate networks of taxiways in existence today. The runways are positioned to exactly match the location reported in official navigation charts and documentation enabling Cat III instrument approaches to be completed as published. Replacement ground textures were customized to blend as smoothly as possible with the surrounding terrain for each of four seasons and painstakingly fitted to the accurately positioned runways. The taxiway network was carefully laid out to match the underlying terrain. Each taxiway/taxiway and taxiway/runway intersection is clearly signaled and all major intersections are fitted with runway hold-short warning lights and on-ground signage.
Design Considerations:
The old American Eagle terminal located north of terminal A is not included. All American Airlines regional affiliates now operate from terminal B. For this reason, the old satellite terminal was considered unessential and obsolete.
No general aviation facilities are available. In real life, the general aviation ramp is located south of terminal D. While the ramp and a few GA parking spots are included in the AI mapping file, the GA terminal was also considered unessential and consequently left out. As most GA pilots and operators do in real-life, you may want to consider Dallas’ and Fort Worth’s downtown airports. We invite you to explore our Dallas Love Field scenery which was recently updated and optimized (essentially rebuilt from scratch) to match the quality and performance of our DFW scenery.
Features
Custom-made, optimized Gmax models of the entire facility including five terminals, the elevated inter-terminal tram, three air traffic control towers, and all significant aircraft maintenance and cargo facilities within the field’s boundary
Custom-made, high-resolution textures for all Gmax generated models including transparency effects
Custom-made, high-resolution photo real ground textures carefully blended with the surrounding terrain
Accurate runway and taxiway layout, including detailed markings and signs
Realistic taxiway and ramp markings and ramp illumination effects
Three levels of scenery complexity and detail:
NORMAL complexity includes terrain texturing, autogen vegetation, airport layout with taxiway signs and basic navigation equipment models (actual localizer and glide slope radio signals are available regardless of the scenery complexity setting), most buildings within the field’s boundaries including the terminals, the air traffic control towers and cargo and maintenance facilities
VERY DENSE complexity adds detailed instrument approach lighting system models, animated runway intersection lighting and static ramp vehicles (optional)
EXTREMELY DENSE complexity ads infield trees (optional)
Advanced, custom-made AI mapping file including realistic gate and parking spot layout and airline gate assignments. A basic AI mapping file without gate assignments is also available as an option*
* AI parking spots were fitted to accommodate specific aircraft models (including default MSFS aircraft) and we cannot guarantee that they will accommodate your favorite AI models. Customization and tweaking of the AI mapping file will most likely be necessary. Most gates were assigned to airlines operating at KDFW in the most accurate configuration possible based on information available to the public. Parking spot specs and gate assignments are available in the enclosed documentation.
Software Compatibility:
FS2004 and Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 (All versions)
Hardware Requirements:
BluePrint sceneries are designed to work properly in the average computer at the time of each release. For optimum performance while taking advantage of most scenery features we suggest the following hardware configuration:
Intel Core Quad CPU or better (Q9300 @ 4 x 2.50 GHz fully tested)
4 GB RAM (fully tested)
nVidia 8000 series video processor with 256-bit memory interface and 512 MB dedicated video memory or better (nVidia GeForce 8800 GT fully tested). nVidia 9000 series video processor and 1 GB dedicated memory may be required for best performance when using the EXTREMELY_DENSE scenery complexity setting (nVidia GeForce 9800 GT fully tested)
