Jorge Amado Airport is an airport located in the city of Ilhéus, in the state of Bahia, 446 kilometers from the capital, Salvador. Belonging to the Government of the State of Bahia and administered since 2018 by the private company Socicam.
The airport complex is the main gateway for tourists to the Costa do Cacau, located 3 km from the center of Ilhéus, in the south of the city. Just behind Porto Seguro Airport, Ilhéus Airport is the second busiest airport in the Brazilian Northeast. The airport has a passenger terminal capable of serving 700,000 passengers / year, being one of the few airports in the interior to operate daily with flights from the three largest Brazilian airlines: Azul, Gol, LATAM and Voepass to the cities of Belo Horizonte, São Paulo and Salvador. It is able to receive medium-sized aircraft such as Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A320.
