History
Its construction began in October 1994 and was completed in July 2000.
The airport was approved by the Aeronautics Command through Ordinance DAC n° 484/SIE in March 2001 and started its activities on April 25, 2001.
His name, Silvio Name Júnior, is a tribute to a young and promising businessman from Maringa, who was a victim of an air accident in the year 2000 in the city of São Paulo.
In May 2012, the airport was upgraded to category 7 and became one of the four in southern Brazil able to receive international cargo on a regular basis, alongside the airports of Curitiba, Foz do Iguaçu and Porto Alegre. At the time, TAM Linhas Aéreas ceased operations, having resumed them only in 2019.

The airport accepts VFR and IFR operations, and the instrument landing procedures consist of RNAV (GNSS and RNP) and NDB.

The passenger terminal is air-conditioned and measures 4,094.09 m². It has TECA - Cargo Terminal, hangars for executive aviation, air taxi, as well as the Aeroclube de Maringá, which maintains a school dedicated to civil aviation, with courses in Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot and IFR.
