The Isaac Moura Rocha Municipal Airport - Guanambi Airport (IATA: GNM, ICAO: SNGI) is located on Avenida 1, in the Belo Horizonte neighborhood, in the Brazilian municipality of Guanambi, in the state of Bahia.
History
background
The airport already had regular flights operated by Nordeste Linhas Aéreas, which, after being sold to RIO-SUL/VARIG, ended its operations in several destinations in the interior of Bahia. Subsequently, Abaeté Linhas Aéreas took over some routes, including operating at Guanambi Airport, with the main destinations being the cities of Bom Jesus da Lapa and Salvador.[citation needed]
currently
The airport obtained the Provisional Operational Certification since 02/14/2020, being able to operate regular flights to any destination in Brazil.
At the beginning of 2016, the company Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras announced its intention to operate flights from this airport to Belo Horizonte, being the 12th airport in Bahia where Azul operates.[2] In February 2019, the company Voepass Linhas Aéreas (Old Passaredo Linhas Aéreas) also showed interest in operating flights departing from Guanambi Airport to the Bahian capital Salvador.
Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras confirmed the start of operations at the airport as of September 20, 2021. The company will operate 4 weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays), all bound for Belo Horizonte-Confins International Airport with the ATR-72 aircraft.
