Coronel FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport (IATA: IQT, ICAO: SPQT), also known as Iquitos International Airport, is an international airport serving the city of Iquitos, the capital of Loreto, Peru. It is considered one of the largest airports in Peru. They are 7 kilometers southwest of Equitos in the middle (4.5 miles). The single runway is 2,500 meters (8,202 ft) 06-24, located on the plain near the Nanay River. Operated by Aeropuertos del Perú, which was franchised in 2006, it handles more than 1 million passengers a year and is the fourth largest airport in Peru by passenger air traffic after Lima, Cusco and Arequipa. It is the only airport in the Amazon region with the ISO9001 seal. It is served by airlines such as LATAM Peru, Sky Airline, Star Peru and Viva Air Peru. It is the main airport in the Peruvian Amazon region, with nine daily direct commercial flights to Lima, as well as flights to Pucallpa and Tarapoto. It is mainly used as a connection point between different towns, cities and other places in the jungle.
The airport is very valuable because the city of Iquitos can only be accessed by plane and river.
