Two real IFR approaches - A true flight adventure
About 15% of US private pilots have instrument ratings, and the percentage may be similar in other countries. To be considered “current” and qualified to fly in instrument meteorological conditions (IMC), US instrument rated pilots must fly a minimum number of real or practice approaches every six months, fly a practice holding pattern, and satisfy other requirements. This article describes two of the most interesting instrument approaches the author has flown, with suggestions for simulating these approaches in FSX.
