Discover this unusual and highly challenging Messerschmitt experiment, the Bf-109Z "Zwilling". The first prototype was built, but was never flown due to bomb damage followed later by project cancellation. You will, however, be able to experience every aspect what was likely to have been the "Z"s amazing and skill-demanding performance, from highly demanding take-off and landing behaviours to it's handling qualities at combat speed. You also become the Test Pilot, and are free to make modifications to the aerodynamics in the effort to extract every possible performance increase. A high level of flying skill is needed.

History

There is not a great deal of information on this ultimately un-flown version of the Bf-109. The origins probably lie with a precedent within the Luftwaffe for the joining of existing airframes in order to create a new type, an example being Heinkel joining together two He-111 bombers in order to create the He-111Z (“Z" also for "Zwilling", the German word for "Twin"). The He-111 Zwilling was designed to be a heavy transport and glider towing aircraft, and was a successful design much liked by its pilots.

This experimental prototype, intended to be a heavy destroyer rather than a fighter, was based on two Bf 109F airframes joined together by means of a new wing center section and new stabilizer, both of constant chord, in a similar way to the later F-82 Twin Mustang. The right fuselage cockpit was faired over and the pilot flew the aircraft from the left side fuselage.

Additional modifications included moving the main undercarriage hinges further inboard, and subsequent substantial modifications to the outer wings’ forward structure in order to accommodate the repositioned undercarriage plus the Rheinmetall‑Borsig Mk 108 30mm canon and ammunition.

Four variants of this aircraft were initially proposed. One was a destroyer armed with five 30 mm (1.18 in) cannon and up to a 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) bomb load, another a fighter-bomber armed with two MK 108 cannon and up to two 2,200 lb. bombs. Both airframes were to be powered by the DB605 engine. A third and fourth were designed on paper and would be similar to the first two airframes but powered by Jumo 213 engines.

Only one Bf 109Z was built (presumably at Regensberg), and it was never flown, having been damaged in its hangar during an Allied bombing raid in 1943. Never rebuilt, the project was permanently abandoned in 1944.

Great scenery, excellent FPS, beautifully modeled terminals. Could use extra ground clutter around the terminals and particularly the FedEx hub. The blue taxiway lights are WAAAAAY overdone, they are almost blinding on final approach in VR. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase.

I won't buy the product until they fix some of these issues. It would be nice to see the tall light post and lighting by the FedEx cargo ramp, and I would like the gas station and subway store modeled since it's on the airport premises.

- o - Gorgeous Terminal with fully modelled airside interior with animated peeps. o - Detail models in general with HD texturing with PBR materials. o - Most buildings 3D modelled. o - 72 FPS in the PMDG 737 sitting at the terminal with no AI traffic running on my HIGH/ULTRA settings. o - Nicely lit terminal area and cargo area at night. Interior lighting good. The Bad: ----------
- o - Disonnected Jetways. They are off by a foot or two on many gates. o - HOLY BLUE EDGE LIGHTS BATMAN! Way to many edge lights. These need to be hand placed. Wish devs would stop relying on the SDK's stringer placement system. Make a 3D light model and hand place it in the proper locations! o - Night lighting missing from areas where it should be such as the parking lots and the west side ramps of the airport. There are HUGE 32' tall ramp lights there in real life. o - Lumberjacks need to cut down some trees on the airport grounds. Way to many trees taht don't belong on the airport grounds. o - Extremely low LOD level on the ground taxi markings making them pop in to view from the cockpit. We should never see taxi line textures popping into existence in visual range from the cockpit. o - Lack of clutter in cargo area and across the whole airport in general. Needs more lived in look. o - Weird terrain mesh in places but at least its not near the terminal area. o - Some poor ground marking mistakes Ove-

ions that show a lack of quality control. A few more days in the developer oven would have made a far better product worthy of 4 to 5 stars. I own all of Dominic's scenery and they get better with each new product as they learn the SDK. Nudge the jetways to the building, remove the excess edge lights, fix broken ground markings and bad LOD and toss some cargo containers and palettes in the cargo ramps and we'll have a winner!

Very disappointed. Color adjustment leaves trees and building shadows blue. Too many red roofs for houses, which is not usual for Montreal. Only conifer trees, when it is mostly broadleaf for Montreal. Many flat roofs are shimmering, which is annoying. Density of trees is also too sparse. I should not have bought it.
