Flight Replicas Super Cub - Deluxe IFR Amphibious

The package contains a single model, in two paint schemes, of perhaps the most expensive and well equipped Super Cub variant available today. Cubs at this level, in real life, are in the $300,000+ (US) range (and that's without top-of-the-line instrumentation and avionics).This model features, along with the standard features of the overall Super Cub packages, a fully customizable avionics bay. You are able to install any high-end third-party avionics equipment you may own.

Coupled with a 180 hp engine, larger fuel tanks, fuel/baggage pod, amphibious floats and a full suite of instruments, you'll be equipped to go anywhere, anytime.

History:

The Super Cub is one of aviation's most successful aircraft stories. In close to 40 years of production, over 9,000 were built, and a number of speciality companies continue to produce replicas and further developments to this day.

Introduced in 1949 by Piper Aircraft, it was developed from the Piper PA-11, and traces its lineage back through the J-3 to the Taylor E-2 Cub of the 1930s.

The Super Cub remained in production with Piper through until 1981, when almost 7500 had been built over an uninterrupted 32 year production run. Piper continued building Super Cubs on behalf of Texas based WTA who held the manufacturing and marketing rights from 1981 until 1988. In 1988 Piper resumed marketing responsibility for the Super Cub and continued low rate production. Financial troubles meant that Super Cub production ceased in 1992, before resuming once more the following year. Finally in late 1994 Piper announced that the Super Cub would not form part of its model line for 1995 and that it would cease production after the last of 24 on order for distributor Muncie Aviation were completed. Famed as a Bush Plane on wheels, floats and skis, Super Cubs can be found all over the world in a great variety of roles, from a general GA aircraft to banner towing and glider tug.

Today, companies such as CubCrafters, Backcountry, Turbine and Mackey offer kits, parts and fully assembled aircraft for those who want to continue flying this outstanding aircraft design.

The aircraft in the Flight Replicas packages depict modern (e.g.. restored/modified) versions of the older models.

A mostly exceptional sim of a classic. These fully modernized amphibians are very well modeled in visuals and flight characteristics. Only a couple weird bugs. First the other reviewer has my appreciation for including the solution for the Red plane and it worked. It was also a very easy fix. The rifle never appears when selected and the Pod doesn’t appear when selected on just the red one. On the yellow bird the pod is visible but cannot be opened like with other Flight Replica Cubs. This can be forgiving as they weren’t something I really cared about, but others may not feel the same way, so that’s why I bring it up here. It’s a small price for two excellent planes so why not. Used with FSX Steam Win 10.

The iconic Super Cub, world champion of the S.T.O.L. challenge, very well designed in an amphibious version. The flight model looks close to reality. Fully supported by P3DV5.x Warning: if you want to enjoy its red livery [texture.Burgini] you must rectify a small error in its aircraft.cfg file: in second line of Flightsim Burgini section change the letter F to A : sim=FR_PA-18A_180_FSX instead of sim=FR_PA-18F_180_FSX Enjoy
