Designed and manufactured by Albatros Flugzeugwerke, Albatros D.III was one of the most iconic fighter aircraft of World War I. It first entered service in early 1917 and became a dominant force in aerial combat during the war. The D.III was an evolution of the earlier Albatros D-series, combining speed, maneuverability and firepower. It featured a streamlined wooden monocoque fuselage and was powered by a Mercedes D.III engine. Armed with twin synchronized 7.92mm Spandau machine guns, it provided pilots with superior offensive capability.
Many legendary German aces, including Manfred von Richthofen (the "Red Baron"), achieved great success flying the Albatros D.III. Its performance gradually became outclassed as newer Allied aircraft introduced but it remained in frontline service well into 1918.
The Albatros D.III's elegant design and historic significance make it one of the most celebrated fighters of the Great War and we are proud to present it in the MSFS.
This digital twin was developed including real pilot and after many hours of creation and testing our mission is to provide a high-fidelity experience of this biplane.
