The Quasar is a fictional aircraft. Lord Frites came up with the idea in December 2023, and it began to take shape in his mind. Two years later, here is a finished aircraft that flies exceptionally well in Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. The Quasar pushes the boundaries of these simulated worlds to their limits and brings unique gameplay mechanisms.
Here are some numbers:
Max rated altitude: 10M feet (FS2024) - 275k feet (FS2020)
Cruising altitude: 130,000 feet
Cruise speed: Mach 7.8
Range: unlimited
Endurance: unlimited
The Flying Fries team is extremely proud of this aircraft, our most ambitious and complex project to date. Fly to the edge of space, reach Mach 7.8 (approximately 5,000 knots ground speed), and manage your fuel burn and fuel production rates to reach any destination thousands of miles away. Then, head west and race the sun. Overtake our star, then carefully manage your descent, and finally land at high speed on a runway which will be barely long enough to bring this heavy spaceship to a complete stop.
You can also choose to transport rare and precious cargo from one location to another thanks to the easy-to-use mission generator. With almost 3,000 registered airports and 100 cargo types, you will face infinite challenges and have many opportunities to witness the beauty of this virtual rendition of Earth.
Here is a list of its main features:
Challenging but rewarding flight model: NOT AN ARCADE TOY!
Highly detailed 3D modeling and optimized 4K texturing.
Custom sound pack with emphasis on immersion: jet whine reacts to air flow, layers of wind, high-g structural "screams", cockpit ambient clicks and buzz, etc.
Modern engine simulation and fuel system.
Custom unique key elements: generate your fuel as you fly!
Complex electrical system with working circuit breakers and nuclear reactor for infinite power.
Unique performances: speed, altitude, range.
Cargo mission generator on our custom EFB: the perfect excuse to discover the world!
Uses the MSFS/Working Title native Garmin G3000 avionics and autopilot suite.
Kinetic Aeronautical Responsive Assistant (K.A.R.A.): a charismatic onboard computer with more than 120 lines of dialogue.
Included original soundtrack with 9 audio tracks to listen while you fly.
Aircraft configuration and fueling via our custom EFB.
Highly customizable interior lighting, with colors and dimmers.
Interactive exterior static elements (chocks, covers, etc.)
All custom visual effects (afterburners, heat blur, contrails, body vapor, dust and rain spray, etc.)
12 unique liveries.
3 original, custom-made pilot characters, each with their own backstory.
Incredibly well made and fun to fly. if you stay within the envolopes you can absolutely plan flights and get to your destination quickly, especially if you settle with going in manual for a bit to reach those high mach speeds and staying within the envelopes. As soon as it "clicked" for me, flights were very satisfying - a very fun and well put-together add on
ok... tons of fun here! I've noticed most of the reviews I've seen are quite positive and excited regarding this aircraft. I guess Im gonna be a bit hard on it though. Yes its really fun and cool to hit who knows what altitude at mach 7.8. I flew from Florida to Edwards AFB in minutes, landing successfully. What a blast! My chief complaint is ... I cant get it to stop climbing. Im using power settings painted right on the side panel and Im 115,000 as planned. Then Im off to the moon. I understand the tech limits of MSFS 24 but I want to hold altitude and hold heading. Thats all I want. If heading is off by a couple degrees, at mach 7.8 you will find yourself 1000km off course. Don't spin out or you will spin like you've never even imagined as possible! Its fun yes. Does it have utility? IDK. Alt hold and heading hold from FL600 to FL 1500 and I'll fly this thing around the globe. Until then its a bit much.
