    • Description

    Aasiaat Airport（N68.72178 W52.78521） (IATA: JEG, ICAO: BGAA) is an airport located in the Disko Bay, 1 NM (1.9 km; 1.2 mi) northeast of Aasiaat, a town in the Qeqertalik municipality in western Greenland. It can serve STOL aircraft, although there is no aircraft deicing equipment at the airport, which is costly and problematic in Greenlandic winter.

    Aasiaat is a port of call for the Arctic Umiaq Line coastal ship and Diskoline.gl (domestic passenger ships for disko bay). Aasiaat harbour functions as well as a hub for regional shipping. The town is also served by Aasiaat Airport with direct connections to Ilulissat and other settlements in the country and Disko Bay region, as well as the Air Greenland hub in Kangerlussuaq. Air Iceland occasionally arrange charter flights for the travel industry. 

    The town of Aasiaat (3,142 inhabitants), is located on the namesake island just northwest of Saqqarliup Nunaa.

    Surroundings not modelled, Airport textures do not show up. So you have black airport builings (P3Dv4). The included fix does not work. Mesh must be set to 76 m or there will be strange effects. Didn't expect very much, but was still dissapointed.

    I'm sorry to say but this little airport (it's more an airstrip than an airport) seems not to be what could be modelled today. If you expect any details , e.g. some roads or houses in the nearby village of Aasiaat, you will be disappointed: there is none (have a look on wikipedia to get an idea what Aasiaat looks like). The scenery improves the original one that comes with p3d, that's right ... but that's all. It's the airstrip, the airport building, some cars and light posts (look at the pictures) - that's it. The scenery should be improved by some buildings and roads of the surrounding, this would put some live to it. Please give us an update, it would be worth it! Important to mention: the scenery works only with the settings according to the included manual. Especially the mesh resolution must be set to 76m - otherwise your aircraft will be moving below the ground level ... At current state, 3 stars are a maximum.
