Description

Le Castellet airport (AITA code: CTT • ICAO code: LFMQ) is a French airport located in the town of Le Castellet, in the department of Var.
Situation

The airport is located 5 km north of Le Castellet. It adjoins the Paul Ricard racing circuit.
Approval

Le Castellet airport is part of list No. 1 (aerodromes open to public air traffic) of aerodromes authorized on January 31, 2010 (decree: NOR: DEVA1012766K) 1.
Historical

In 1962, Paul Ricard created the largest private aerodrome in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region with a 1,000 m runway reserved for VFR flights.

In 1970 the construction of the racing circuit gave more activity to the aerodrome and in 1972, Paul Ricard invested by extending the runway to 1,750 m and able to accommodate planes up to 50 tons.

The airline Logistair, created in 1972, was based at the airport, but the few lines operated to Mende, Millau and Corsica did not allow it to acquire a healthy situation. It then moved to Montpellier airport, becoming Air Littoral2.

The aerodrome has experienced intense activity with the Formula 1 Grand Prix from 1971 to 1990 and since 2018.

In May 1999, Excelis S.A. bought the site (aerodrome and circuit) and modernized the facilities in 2001 after the creation of a new terminal, a control tower, 5 new aircraft hangars and new lighting beacons. The airport reopens to air traffic after works in February 2002.

In November 2001, Le Castellet Airport became a high-end international business airport and the second airport in the Var.

In February 2010, the airport inaugurated an integrated photovoltaic power plant on the 5,000 m2 roof of the H5 hangar.

The airport can accommodate commercial aircraft such as Fokker 100, Embraer 135/145, BAE146, MD83, business aircraft such as Falcon 900, 2000, Phenoms, Citations, Learjet, Gulfstream, BBJ, all types of aircraft from recreation, Fighter planes type L39, Hunter, Alpha Jet and Helicopters type EC135, AS355B2, Dauphin.
Infrastructure

The aerodrome has a single runway oriented 13/31 (12/30 from November 5, 2020) (QFU 127/307) 1,750 m long and 30 m wide, paved.

The aerodrome is not approved for night VFR, but is day and night IFR approved.

SSLIA Service (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Service at aerodromes) level 1 (level 5 available on request).

Customs and police services on notice.

The control service is provided by an AFIS, the traffic is carried out on the frequency: 119,000 Mhz.
Restrictions on use

The aerodrome is forbidden to aircraft not equipped with radio and to gliders, but also to microlights in winds exceeding 15 kts.

Overflight of the racing circuit is prohibited below 1,500 ft / ground.

The installer is horrible and unneccessary. Just give a zip file! Would have liked to see grandstands around Circuit Paul Ricard. Otherwise a decent scenery at a good price and a worthy addition for F1 fans.

I love airports that are fun to visit with lots of details. It makes you want to plan a trip to this airport. France is one of the most beautiful countries on earth, so it's certainly worth consideration. Every year here in the Tampa area we get a chance to see KSPG transformed into a speedway, so it's great to see that there are places on earth that one can visit and enjoy a race. This little gem is worth the full price and when it's on sale it's a steal. Congrats to the developer o a masterpiece.

Bonjour! Je possède également cette scène sur P3D, et je trouve que pour MSFS, il y a beaucoup d'efforts louables : peu d'éditeurs prennent la peine de créer un ensemble customisé de bâtiments et d'animations autour de l'aéroport en question. Ici c'est le cas, on a droit à la zone commerciale modélisée près de l'aéroport, le circuit du Castellet avec des formules 1 animées, la ferme solaire au bout de la piste, ce qui renforce grandement l'immersion. Les performances sont excellentes ( pas vu de différence avec ou sans ). En revanche, je trouve que c'est côté piste que les détails pêchent un peu : on trouve des craquelures sur toute la piste dont la texture manque beaucoup de définition et semble une adaptation un peu lissée de celle utilisée pour P3D et FSX, un autre détail très dommage est le parterre fleuri à côté de la tour qui utilise des sprites 2D de photos de fleurs que l'on ne peut vraiment plus utiliser dans un simulateur comme MSFS sans que ça saute aux yeux, et puis malheureusement des arbres poussent à travers certains panneaux solaires... Bref, finalement ces points négatifs seront j'espère bientôt réglés, et la scène sera excellente dans la catégorie des petits aéroport locaux, qui s'ils sont souvent traités par des développeurs freewares, le sont rarement dans le détail comme ici.

Très moyen pour le prix ! Reconversion de la version P3D ! Une mise à jour au moins pour l’utilisation de PBR et d’autres améliorations est nécessaire.

Tout d'abord les points positifs, il faut dire que le travail du sol de l'aéroport est vraiment très bon la dessus je n'ai rien à redire, les bâtiments de l'aéroport sont tons bien représentés avec en bonus l'animation des F1 sur le circuit Paul Ricard TOP ! :) Malheureusement au vu du prix je suis un peu déçu, pour 18 euros je m'attendais à avoir plus de détails et au moins avoir des textures PBR ce qui n'est pas du tout le cas... Ce qui est vraiment fort dommage, d'autant plus que l'on retrouve sur certains bâtiments des photos qui sont censé reproduire l'intérieur des bâtiments, pas trop approprié. C'est au final simplement une reconversion presque brut de la version FSX/P3D sur MSFS20. Au final la seul chose vraiment gênante est le prix qui est à mon gout beaucoup trop élevé pour le résultat final.
