MIYAKO SHIMOJISHIMA Airport is located on Miyakojima, about 300km south of Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.
Miyakojima also has Miyakojima Airport (ROMY), but this MIYAKO SHIMOJISHIMA Airport was originally built as a “Training Airport” for commercial pilots in 1973.
At one time, two major airlines in Japan, Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways were training, but after that they changed the training airport to overseas or another domestic airport.
In 2015, started the construction of the new terminal, and in 2019, Jetstar Japan started regular flights from Narita (RJAA) and Kansai (RJBB) and Hong Kong Express Airways from Hong Kong (VHHH).
Skymark Airlines has also decided to fly in the future, and Cathay Pacific Airlines is also using this
MIYAKO SHIMOJISHIMA Airport for pilots training.
Miyakojima is currently under construction rush for many resort hotels, and there is no doubt that it
will attract attention from around the world as an Asian resort.
Nice Small Airport south of Okinawa. Good for a quick hop from Okinawa or perhaps Taiwan. Price just for the level of detail. Only complaint is the taxiway, although that man be the accurate texture.
