Description
Minamidaito Airport (IATA: MMD, ICAO: ROMD) and Kitadaitō Airport (IATA: KTD, ICAO: RORK) are airports located in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.
Flight between both airports is the shortest flight in Japan and 3rd shortest in the world.
It’s only 12 km (7.5 mi) long, takes about 3 - 10 minutes in the air. Sometimes, pilots don’t have enough time to operate landing gear.
Only a round flight from Naha, to Minami-Daito and Kitadaitō, back to Naha is operated every day by Ryukyu Air Commuter’s Bombardier Dash 8-Q400.
These airports are important transport hub for local residents of both island.
