The Vancouver International Airport (IATA: YVR, ICAO: CYVR) is an international airport in Richmond, British Columbia. It is located 12 km (7.5 miles) from downtown Vancouver. It is the second-busiest airport in Canada in terms of aircraft movements (306,799) and passengers (25.9 million), behind Toronto Pearson International Airport. It is often described as a transpacific hub, with more direct flights to China than any other airport in North America or Europe. It is a hub for Air Canada and WestJet, and an operational base for Air Transat. Vancouver International Airport is one of eight Canadian airports with U.S. border pre-clearance facilities. It is also one of the few major international airports that has a dedicated terminal for scheduled seaplane flights.

The airport has earned numerous major international awards as one of the world’s best airports. It won the Skytrax Award for Best Airport in North America in 2007 and from 2010 to 2019, for a record 10 consecutive years. The airport also entered the list of the world’s top 10 airports for the first time in 2012, ranking 9th (2012), 8th (2013), and 9th (2014) overall. It is the only North American airport included among the top 10 in both 2013 and 2014. YVR also maintains the distinction of Best Canadian Airport in the regional results.
